Conservatives frustrated with the direction of the country think Dr. Ben Carson can change the course by winning the 2016 presidential race. Now they just have to convince him. The group, RunBenRun.org, a super PAC, has already raised $4 million toward a Carson bid for the Republican nomination and has collected 200,000 signatures for a petition to get him to join the race. John Philip Sousa IV, the group’s national chairman, said Tuesday that members are working Carson on an almost daily basis, sending along petition-drive updates and hundreds of “clamorings” for him to run, received through letters, Facebook postings and other forms of communication. “I don’t’ like the direction in which the county is going,” said Sousa, the great grandson of the late American composer John Philip Sousa, who wrote such iconic songs as “Stars and Stripes Forever” and “Semper Fidelis,” the official march of the U.S. Marine Corps. “Carson doesn’t whine like some other Republicans. He brings a solution to the table.” www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/04/12/carson-for-president-back-report-4-million-raised-campaign-apparatus-into-place/

I don't think he's the kind of man who would want the job.

More importantly, his wife is not that interested in her husband's political aspirations.

Dr Carson is far too smart to even think about it... and many out here are far too dumb to think he will...

Its a very good thing that he is no longer operating, how many people would want him operating inside of their kids brains?

So now you're going to slander a well known doctor who saved many, many kids lives.
You could only wish to be able to do what he could....

Dr. Ben Carson is a good man and many people know and respect him. I have a lot of respect for Dr. Carson but someone is going to have to explain to me how being a world famous neurosurgeon qualifies him to be POTUS.

I agree... lot of difference between being a good surgeon and a good President... just because you're good at one doesn't mean you'd be good at the other...

Being good at anything doesn't necessarily mean someone will be good at something else... Dr Carson being a good surgeon doesn't mean he will be a good President...
And don't knock community organizers till you've been one... and likely not many here have...

Carson has never been tested in the political arena. It's highly unrealistic to expect a novice to have even a puncher's chance at the Presidency.

And don't knock community organizers till you've been one... and likely not many here have... What we've seen is that community organizer is not a sufficient skill set to qualify one for the presidency. Neurosurgeon may not be either, but it's got to be clear which of them is the smarter man.

Dr. Ben Carson is a good man and many people know and respect him. and also the smartest Dr on the planet, but the black community will only slam him as they do now because he won't see things at ghetto level like others do.

I don't think he's the kind of man who would want the job. Sounds perfect then. I am kind of tired of those who want the job. There's a LOT to be said for the concept that anyone who wants to be President of the United States should never be allowed to hold the job.

Dr Carson shouldn't run, why should a good man subject himself to the political scum that are already working up to slander and lie about him.

Dr Carson shouldn't run, why should a good man subject himself to the political scum that are already working up to slander and lie about him. Not to mention calling him a joke. That's just low... but what can be expected in our current political climate-- on BOTH sides of the aisle. Smear any potential opponent, and the devil take the hindmost. That said, democracy does kinda mean successful people in the "real world" will serve, in spite of the cost (the monetary cost, I mean.) At least, it used to. O! How far we've come from our founding! But, truth, except for a comment he was invited to make-- and the backlash he got for daring to be a black man with "mainstream" values, when he made it-- there's no reason for the Republican Party to dragoon him into the political maelstrom. After all, I am sure there are many political operatives standing by with the media skills to turn a fine neurosurgeon into "a joke." Best to just leave politics to savvy folks, like the Kennedys, Bushes, Gores, Pelosis, et al, who were "born to the purple." After all, they are "our betters." Any outsider, no matter his personal worth, is just "a joke." I mean, why did Ben Carson go into something STOO-PID, like neurosurgery, when he could have gotten himself a law degree? He was probably smart enough to be a lawyer-- even a YALE lawyer, but... neurosurgery? Man, what a joke he is. What a hoot! Fool became a neurosurgeon. How dumb is THAT? What a joke! Man, it's hard to freak out in sufficient euphoria to glee over how much of a joke Dr Ben Carson really is. Seriously ... a brain surgeon? The only thing funnier, and more joke-worthy, would be if he were a rocket scientist.
