Depression sucks. I always simplify my life when it kicks in. Do housework, yard work hobbies and good friends. Play a guitar. Go fishing. The stress of depression can spiral down. You gotta kick yourself out of it! You have the power!

Well it is just ugh... Sort of thinking about things probably way to much. But sometimes when you find something and you try to step over it as water under the bridge then find it still really is impacting you more then you want to let on... it is disappointing. Then this week the internet went out at work and come to find out it had to be that someone got in to flip it off or something. Very scary situation it placed me in. Security at my work is such a joke sometimes. The lack of concern is even a bigger joke. On top of finding my father was right about me doing art. Can not sell crap. Which basically makes me a failure. It is what it is about to pull my stuff from a site.
Lastly--- sorry--- but some people are absolute idiots. I ran into one today.
I am sure I just have to accept things and go on with everything. But I guess it is all very disappointing. Makes me feel a bit down and out.

Ive suffered from depression many times over the years. Been hospitalized and even a few attempts. Its a bitch when its bad. You dont want to do anything. I could barely function. I went 8 days with very little sleep. Went to hospital they gave me 3 different meds to knock me out. I slept for 3 straight days

Unfortunately, some artists aren't noticed until after they have died. I'm not suggesting that you should get noticed that way!!! If you enjoy making your art, keep at it. However, don't starve to make a point. I think it's way too early to conclude you can not sell crap. From what I've seen your art is not crap. Napoleon Hill once wrote that the secret to success is to find a need, then fill it. Look around to see what sells, then make that kind of art (for income). You can still do the art that you do for your own satisfaction. Hang in there!

Let kids be kids---that is my other gripe.... I had put sand in the backyard--- I have a boy and all kids love playing in the sand. But one guardian will not let the two kids they have play in the sand or anything that will get them dirty. That is what play clothes are for!!! Kids need to be kids and it helps with their creativity to play in sand. Dang gone it not to be allowed to play in sand is beyond me. But it what it is. Just disappointing that all the other kids can and they can not. Just tired of seeing the two kids crying because of it. Sorry just unreal to me....
Instead they will buy them purses and give them lipstick and the like at a young age. She says she is teaching them to be ladies.... being strong ladies or weak ladies. Sigh

I agree. If you enjoy doing your art then keep doing it. That is what art is really! Some people are very lucky to make (a lot, or even some) money from it. But the best reason to do art or music is because the doing of it makes you happy.

Have you been to the american visionary art museum on light street? I love AVAM and have loved it for many years. It is all,or mostly, untrained artists (and sometimes even art done by mentally ill folks, not that there is anything wrong with that!). I have seen some amazing stuff at some of the exhibitions I've gone to at AVAM.

selling artwork is a difficult thing you almost need to have a show or exhibit somewhere that people interested in art would attend. my wife sold one painting out of the large collection she had. It was someone in her art class that liked her chair painting. Sandy just put a smile on your face and at work put a mirror next to your phone and when you answer it look in the mirror and smile.

Sigh Recently I had a woman go on and on about buying high heels for her daughter. The little girl is only 2 and one half. The woman couldn't wait to show me a picture. When she did I was taken aback. The little girl was dressed like a woman. Way too young to be sexualized. Sandy, I know many artists. The ones I know that make money at it hustle. They know much about business. They live and breathe selling their art. They contact restaurants and hotels to hang their work. It is a full time job. But they make money. I hope you come out of your funk soon.

Someone told me I should host them in someones home, Aponderer.
If I had a girl the world would be in trouble, because I would totally treat her the same as my boys. Which basically I treat them as an individual being without if they are a girl or boy. But there is no way I would let a girl wear make-up before 14 I am sorry. Heels is way to much for them as well. And some of these skirts are way to short. Yup the world is lucky I did not have a girl. I don't allow my boys tats yup they can do that when they are on their own or ear rings. Another thing they are allowed to do when they move out. But I do allow them to wear their hair anyway they want- cut - long- dye any expression they like. I allowed them to do what they want in their space and be creative. If I had girls they could do the same.

But hahaha I have bribed my oldest to cut his hair before--- I said I allowed them to choose - but a little bribe to shorten those mop strings never hurt. Dang 20 dollar extra to just talk him into a cut of at least 3 inches hahaha

What helps me when I'm feeling blue is to think about how tomorrow or the next day or the week after it'll all be something different and that whatever I'm feeling at the moment will seem small, petty, even laughable, just so much macht nix. It's not perfect but it gets me through without having to resort to drugs or booze or fits of self-pity. Music also helps. Music is balm for an aching soul.
