My granddaughter is Lactose intolerant... she drinks a lot of milk... lactose free milk... (much more expensive than regular milk)... There are pills she can get that would allow her to eat milk-based foods. They are not prescription. They contain the enzyme lactAse, which cleaves lactose into galactose and glucose, its two components.

A post from a woman in Florida:
"I can promise, not photoshopped. I saw this on a friends FB feed, so I went to my local Publix and yep, there it was. Got the store manager, he took pictures while laughing so hard he had tears rolling down face. He contacted corporate who were totally dumbstruck."

Was not aware of that... she's been to a doctor for it a number of times... (trying to determine her problem)... no doctor has mentioned pills... we'll try to find out... (unless you know the name of them)... Lactaid was the first company to make them; there are generics, now. Amazon sells them, as do many drug stores. She should purchase a small bottle first, and conduct an experiment at home. Some patients get complete relief. Others get only partial relief. Excess lactose affects the osmolality of the large bowel, causing fluid accumulation there. You might be old enough to have undergone a routine colonoscopy - same basic idea powers the prep...
