I finally got around to seeing this over the weekend at the local God forsaken megaplex, wanting to wait until the cinematic hordes started to thin out. Being a big fan of the original movie way back in 1968, it's good to see that the franchise is alive and well after that forgettable Mark Wahlberg version several years back. Some great action scenes, but they didn't overshadow the story of not just man vs. ape, but also underlying themes of man vs. man and ape vs. ape. Andy Serkis was tremendous as Caesar, as well as Toby Kabbell portraying Koba. And as for movie making technology, we have come a long way since actors sweating away in ape suits. I give this flick a solid 3 popcorns.

I wanna see it at the senator. I guess I'd better hurry. I'm afraid they will have ruined it with their graphicism (is that a word? Now it is!) and violence. Sometimes it seems like the originals were so much better to me. But I do want to go see what they did with it.

I saw it in 2D. And like yourself, I'm not a fan of 2 hours worth of CGI orgies/shoot 'em ups that too often pass for movies nowadays, at the expense of story and character development. Don't get me wrong, Dawn has its share of action, but I found it to be measured.

It is two hours of CGI shoot'em ups with almost nothing in the way of plot or character development.

Remember seeing President Heston as Taylor and local celeb Nova in a 60 Dodge Dart...... I think at a Odenton Drive In, GREAT movie. The sequels sucked up to the one with Caesar a couple years ago. THAT was as good as the first of em and I want to see the newest. Maybe this weekend?
