Once again, I've put together a list of everyone I can think of that would be remotely positioned to run. Former candidates, current governors, prominent congress critters, prominent members of the Bush team, and Ben Carson.
Looking through the list, if the Democrats do run Hillary, they're going to have a serious problem with the "bitter old white men meme" with almost anyone on this list (especially given how bitter, old and white Hillary is), unless the GOP is stupid enough to run McCain, Romney, Boehner or McConnell (all of which I consider unlikely - though it's fair enough to say we were stupid enough to run two of those before).
I know there's been a lot of people talking about Ben Carson. He's clearly a very intelligent guy, genuinely conservative, and refreshingly not much of a creature of Washington. Plus, being a black man, he will cause many heads to explode in the Democrat party. However, he lacks the practical executive experience he ought to have to be President. If we're going to put up a black person, Powell or Rice would be a better pick. It's better to sacrifice a little ideological purity in exchange for competent experienced administrators.
If we must consider 'diversity,' I'd like to suggest a Susana Martinez/Nikki Haley ticket. Martinez is a popular, capable, Republican governor of a nominally blue state, and Haley is an equally capable governor with solid conservative street cred. Unlike Carson who only addresses the 'bitter' and 'white' pieces of the Democrat's primary political platform, there is nothing remotely bitter, old, white or male about either Martinez or Haley. Plus, the Latino vote is imminently winnable for the Republicans... not so much the black vote, even if the candidate is Carson.
If diversity is not a factor (and realistically it is), I'd want Scott Walker who has successfully fought off a continuous onslaught of left-wing extremism and managed to turn back the scourge of unionism in one of it's birth places. He is a genuine conservative governor of a deep-blue state who's managed to successfully defeat the Democrats every time they've come at him.

I'm not surprised... the most hotly contested U.S. Senate campaign in the U.S. this year...
My Facebook status:
"I consider Obama's plan an unconstitutional power grab and support the overwhelming majority of Mississippians who oppose unilateral presidential action on amnesty."
Chris McDaniel ------------------------------------------------ How is Chris McDaniel supposed to know what the "overwhelming majority" of Mississippians want?... or is it just what Chris McDaniel wants?...

I think you can make a good argument that it was the ugliest US Senate campaign this year, but I don't really consider him a viable candidate.

Doesn't matter, a Republican will never win the presidency again. The Republican party has run its course as have others throughout history.

You know... they control a majority of the US House, the US Senate, most of the governorships, most of the state legislative chambers. But it's still run its course. LMAO husaga, if Hillary decides not to run (or, you know, strokes out), which one of the candidates on this list loses to ANY of the Democratic bench?

This is just more reason he's not a viable presidential candidate. Cochran's behavior was utterly vile during the primary campaign, but I don't think anyone seriously thinks he lost the election.

Doesn't matter, a Republican will never win the presidency again. The Republican party has run its course as have others throughout history. I doubt it! I find the candidates who lose to be the most effective at changing and influencing the American political discussion. In my lifetime the two most culturally effective political actors were Barry Goldwater and Ross Perot. The "death of a party" has occurred many times recently! After the Democrat debacles of '68 and '72 the same comments were made about that party.

I can't find this guy on the list.Jeb Bush surges to double-digit lead among 2016 GOP presidential contendersFormer Florida Gov. Jeb Bush broke away from the pack in the latest CNN/ORC poll with a 10-point lead over Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey. But a Rasmussen poll released Monday finds likely Republican voters split on whether they want another Bush in the White House. link

For once I agree with davinci. I wouldn't vote for Jeb at the convention, but he certainly is getting traction from the left leaning media. They love to push a moderate so that he can lose against their candidates.

I don't think Jeb has a prayer. Then again, the GOP was stupid enough to nominate Romney. The only candidate on the bench that couldn't effectively attack Obamacare - Obama's Achilles heel. So perhaps you're right and we'll nominate the only Candidate that can't effectively attack Hillary's Achilles heel: the fact that she's a Clinton or a Bush.

The fact that someone picked Romney and someone else picked Palin may be more indicative of GOP dysfunction than anything.
