Or just stop taking prisoners. Battlefield executions would probably cause some stir amongst the "Progressive" proletariat, however. War is hell... Not for the GITMO inmates. They get 3 hots and a cot, clean rooms, prayer rugs, halal meals, deferential treatment from the guards, exercise, and no one shooting them. Yet.

they go home has hero's and have a parade in their honor as they burn American flags. Unlike Vietnam era vets Vietnam soldiers came home to unhappy throngs of people because the war in Vietnam was so unpopular here... but prisoners held captive in Vietnam during that time, like John McCain, and others, did come home to a hero's welcome...

King Midas would have had enough sense to stop touching things when he realized everything he touched turned to crap. Obama is so out of touch with reality, he thinks crap is gold. And he probably also still thinks he's a better political adviser than his political advisers. The world would literally be a better place if he decided to do nothing but play golf for the next two years.

Can't blame a guy for defending himself and his family... standing his ground, you might say... So we never should have captured and held any German or Japanese soldiers during WWII? Or NVN during VN? Or NK's during the Korean War? Lunch is over.

Yes aint it hell you have to be a POW to get decent treatment when you come home from a war or just walk down a street in uniform. I served in Nam, and the war was wrong. Why? Because you served there? You might disagree with the policy, but that policy was no different from any other defense treaty we have with other nations. We 'interfered' with their politics, but no more than the USSR interfered with ours, or China interferes with other nation's politics. SVN was our ally, they were attacked, we responded.

But it was not the common soldier, sailor or airmens fault and they shouldnt have been treated like dirt. Im sure you family and friends didnt treat you badly, nor did mine, but others did. No I did not serve there, its hard to get a submarine into a rice paddy.

It was for this guy, the shooter eventually was imported and started a restaurant in NorVa. Powerful photo! Almost everyone in America is familiar with that "shot"... it made all the newspapers I later learned. A chaotic day or so in Saigon! The man being executed had just killed the police chief's wife and children - difficult to cast stones at the chief under such conditions. The term 'Saigon Warrior' dropped out of usage after Tet.

And because of all our "rights" here... many murderers, who have committed even worse horrendous acts, sit on death row, being fed and clothed and housed by the American taxpayers for over 20 years... while their victims families mourn and cope with losing their loved ones...

Aboutwell did not mention Gitmo inmates. The thread is about GITMO inmates. Gitmo "inmates" are not termed POWs... they are termed "Enemy combatants"... which is still a controversial term... however, they are not Prisoners of War...

It was for this guy, the shooter eventually was imported and started a restaurant in NorVa. </div>If so, great! This is dead wrong though........ After emigrating to the U.S. in 1975, the former General, Nguyen Loan, opened a pizza parlor in Washington D.C., which he ran until 1991, when his identity was discovered and he was forced to retire after receiving many threats. Might have been Reston or Manassas, I forget but I remember the place in the late 70's, cat was out of the bag. nobody really seemed to care one way or the other about his past. Thought it was a Chinese place but that's another thing time clouds, I know I did NOT go inside. Like many conquered people..... shoulda tried harder.

The thread is about GITMO inmates. Gitmo "inmates" are not termed POWs... they are termed "Enemy combatants"... which is still a controversial term... however, they are not Prisoners of War... Six men who were held for more than 12 years at Guantanamo Bay have been sent to Uruguay to be resettled as refugees, the U.S. Department of Defense said in a statement Sunday.
The six — four Syrians, a Tunisian and a Palestinian — were detained as suspected militants with ties to al-Qaeda but were never charged.www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/12/07/guantanamo-prisoners-uruguay/20047083/
