RIP indeed. Is it actually more deaths or just more celebrities and more media coverage, I wonder? It is becoming a little worrying, something of a countdown, particularly for people like myself who has achieved his "three score years and ten" and are not in the very best of health.

Bill Paxton from "Aliens" among many other films, dead at 61. He had many entertaining parts. Really sad, he had some great parts. I've watched a couple of episodes of his newest show Training Day... not bad. RIP!

Those who enjoy rock 'n' roll, which includes me, thank Chuck Berry. He inspired many of its earliest pioneers, including the Beatles.

Gong Show host and part time CIA Agent Chuck Barris died. Part time CIA assassin. Or did you not read "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind"? I'm sure the CIA would like us to believe it was natural causes, but he was only 87. Yeah. They got him at last...

Robert Taylor. You probably don't know who he is, so read this, at 85 of Parkinson's Disease and other ailments. He could be regarded as the father of the modern Internet for his work at ARPA and later at Xerox PARC; he worked on a lot of innovations there. Then he continued to innovate at Digital Systems through the 1980s. He wasn't the inventor of a lot of these technologies, but he was the high level idea man engineers sometimes need to focus their efforts.

Roger Ailes, former chief of the news division at Fox. Essentially built the news division and had been with the network since its inception. Forced out in the summer of 2016 following dozens of allegations of sexual harassment, some going back decades. Ailes fell at home about a week before he died. The resulting blow to his head led to a fatal subdural hematoma. He was 77.

Greg Allman, founder of the Allman Brothers Band, at 69, of liver cancer. Probably their most famous song is the instrumental "Jessica". Their genre could be called "southern rock" or perhaps "country/rock fusion".

Their genre could be called "southern rock" or perhaps "country/rock fusion". I was lucky enough to meet him when we lived in Germany, they used to do a lot of touring in Germany. We were at a pub one night and a guy we were with said to this man we were talking to that he looked just like Greg Allman. He said, because I am. That was so neat, we talked for a long time. He was just a normal everyday, down to earth guy. After that we got their tour schedule and went to a few shows! Good times for sure!!
