Well apparently there was some miscommunication. She was having some pain in her legs so they xrayed them and the Dr said her LEGS are cancer free, not her lungs. I talked to her today and she is devasted

I went to Ohio and visited my Aunt last weekend. She was so happy to see me. Her vision is very poor and when I visited I had to tell her who I was because she couldn't see me well enough to know on her own. She's in hospice care at a nursing home. She asked me to take her outside to smoke every day I was there. I don't mind doing it because it gives her pleasure. I would only stay about 30 minutes because she was so tired and wanted to go back to sleep. I went at least twice a day to see her. She has been diabetic for many years now. I was there her sugar was in the 400's. Shes eating next to nothing. Her daughter texted me this evening and said that her Mom doesnt even wanna go outside to smoke anymore. She got very sick after eating her dinner. She asked for the Chaplin to visit her so he will come tomorrow. Im wondering if she has given up and will be gone soon. Getting depressed just thinking about it

Unfortunately, biteme, this sounds a lot like what happened to my Mom when the end drew near. The hospice people told me what to expect, so I understood that it is a normal process people go through as they grow weaker. End stage cancer often means diffuse cells, and in the lungs those are trouble; they interfere with the lungs' ability to do gas exchange. Decreasing oxygen levels account for some of the symptoms.
Best wishes to you, and... prepare.

She has been moved to a private room for family privacy. She is no longer conscious. They have to suction out her mouth every few hours apparently she cant swallow anymore. They are giving her morphine. But it will be at any time now.

Im heading out Friday to attend the services on Sunday. I will miss the Ravens game. Can someone cheer extra hard in my place?

I know people want to live forever these days, but 82 is a pretty good run. I say leave her in peace and God bless her.
