Can we PUH-LEASE talk about the thread topic, friends?
It's a good topic, and particularly relevant now that MD has decriminalized........ It is impossible to have a constant thread topic about anything with lefties and their snark diverting. I know I should ignore them, but frankly it is too much fun poking at them. I will try to be better. So what more needs to be said about drugs? I think they should be available to everyone regardless of age, mental condition, or race, if people choose to drug themselves into insensibility then they should also die in the gutter if that is their life choice. As for brands and flavors, I have no clue I have never done any drug but advil, asprin, decongestants, and finally BOOZE.

One advantage I see in orderly sales of marijuana is that the user could easily find the brand (or strain) that works best for them. There are many types of cigars with radically different smoking characteristics and taste. I favor Partagas 1845's myself...someone else may like Punch Rare Corojos. There are many types of beers...I like malty ales, Munich beers, the occasional IPA.......someone else may like American pilsners. I like single-malt Scotches, Irish whiskey, gin & tonics of an evening, the occasional glass of absinthe....someone else may be a bourbon drinker. Menthol vs regular, Marlboro vs Silk Cut, Players vs Camels..... Why shouldn't we have a choice of weed? Why stop your 'I like' vice list before you got to the women and song? Of course, you do realize that (if I employ the same logic displayed elsewhere on this forum) your refusal to discuss this would indicate, nay prove, that you are a defender of homosexuality. HEY!!! but seriously, I have never had too much against homos....my attitude has always been similar to Oscar Wilde's view on other folks sexual pecadilloes: "...as long as they don't do it in the street and frighten the horses" (I don't obsess over lesbians either....) There are certain things that are none of my business, and I heartily intend to keep them that way. Likewise, someone nosing into MY habits and affairs risks a flattened snout..... As for women, Lord...skinny or buxom, tall or short, redheads/blonde or brunette, foreign or domestic....I love them all. And the most enchanting feature of a woman is not found in breast, thigh, belly or haunch....but in a smile that lights a room, and a laugh that fills it. Song? I pick the banjo, and play a fiddle poorly. Got that one covered....

Now as for the whole legalizing pot thing, making winners and losers by choosing who can grow, and dispense medical/recreational pot, well of course the government is going to mess up again. They will keep the underground drug economy going be driving up the prices required by government intervention. The drug enforcement types can go after home growers and others making big government the nanny of everyone. I foresee that the lack of reduction in the crime rates will be used politically by the right to show that legalizing it was a bad idea. etc, etc, etc.

As a MD small business we now have a new challenge with legal pot. I thought I would now have to accept applicants and or employees who smoke pot. I would not put a field tech into someones home after smoking a joint, but it's MD legal and would be forced to accept it.
Well I found out I don't have to abide by the MD pot law, Pot is still federally illegal and I can use that as ammo against an employee.

Kind of like those humbuggers who want to ban soda's huh? Or those who ban cigarettes, or even E-cigs. Those devils. Yup the leftie wayNo worries I would have to care about the opinion and ignorance of lefties to be embarrassed . Keep up the good work. Your links are worthless, and you wouldn't believe any link that I supplied so why do you care? Opinions do not need links. Back at you. Serious comic relief. Don't stop this forum was so quiet before you showed. I agree, but a remarkable number of righties, and lefties are against legalizing some bad habits, they like to cite the cost to society for drug abuse, maybe even the opium wars in China in the 1800's, but frankly if we could just require people to actually pay for their own healthcare (however they manage that with insurance or not), and not require free treatment I think the problem would take care of itself. That of course will not happen because it requires people to be held accountable for either their bad choices, or their bad gene's, and in this day an age no one is at fault for anything. Well except for white males, they are at fault for being born. Comprehension is not one of your strong suits, where did I state that those who wanted to ban soda's succeeded? And you really need to get with the gun control agenda, if you keep pushing shooting things you will be taken off the leftie gun grabber christmas list. I just had another thought ( I know the jokes write themselves ) but really do you not know that shooting fish in a barrel is not that easy, you have to take parallax into account, did you know that? Without doing so you will miss every time. With you? No sorry it is like debating the dead. That would certainly be no different than what you and your gang do. Talk about moving the goal posts. kashmir, the real issue is that government regards itself as having some proper role in deciding what people eat and drink. It has no proper role in that. The only folks who believe otherwise are nannies.

I believe you can still require a drug test, as long as you have an employee handbook that so states. And you can fire or not hire for a failed drug test as well. You can also fire for visible signs of intoxication, the same way you could with alcohol. The fact that Maryland decriminalized the drug does not require you to permit intoxicated individuals at work. Now, what someone does at home is their business. You might have trouble keeping employees if you try to tell them they can't use the stuff at all, even when their not working for you. But you wouldn't do that, would you Michael Bloomberg?

A few years ago, I passed a pre-employment drug screen even though my results came back positive for marijuana. I simply faxed the employer a copy of my medical marijuana certification and I started work right away. This was for a long term contract backing up data and replacing computers for one of the biggest banks in the country. I had access to some pretty important information, had I wanted it. I don't think the feds were worried about it.

It does prove that you are 55 to 60 at least because in the last 45 years we have had only 2 Repub guvs but the General Assembly was majority DEMOCRAT both times and typically would not cooperate with the Guv. Throwing tantrums at any idea brought forth.
The fact that you don't live here, shows, all you can do is parrot the MD Dem party line emailed to you.

Did I say I never lived there? My goodness you really do not give much thought before you hit that Create Post do you? Yes I do remember the damage that Ehrlich accomplished in his very short tenure. Must have been that "unapologetically pro-business" and obviously "unapologetically" didn't mind running a really dishonest campaign. He lifted hiring freezes for critical State positions and resumed merit increases; added fees to fund Bay cleanup and road construction; never raised actual taxes; funded schools and other prig rams; actually pardoned criminals... He was more liberal in many ways than MOM
