The good: The bad: The ugly: sourceSo people may cheer that the unemployment rate dropped but they would only do so out of ignorance. 288k have found jobs but an astounding 806k gave up on working. sourceEdit: 988k was the record, not the current drop of 806k.

But all you will hear is "the unemployment rate dropped". No real explanation, no analysis, nothing. The LR media will cover their creation, once again.

I gave up on working... I chose to retire... making way for a job for someone else... but technology is still chipping away at the workforce... so is offshoring... and buying too many damn foreign produced goods and services...
I like that saying: If you want to buy "Made in America"... you gotta "Make it in America"...

Not doubting the numbers, but it is kind of freaky reading articles from a guy who refuses to use his own name and instead writes under the name of the guy in "Fight Club", Tyler Durden.

It is not one person. Most people use their names to write articles. Its easy to hide when you post BS behind a fake name. Not so much when writing with your real name, the name your mother gave you when you were born name.

Not so much when writing with your real name, the name your mother gave you when you were born name. Their reason they claim for doing so is that they work in the industry which they criticize. They post anonymously to avoid retribution. Exposing the likes of Goldman Sachs is not for the faint of heart. Still, if you don't care for that then here is the first primary source. BLS Employment Situation Summary. Here is the labor force participation rate.

Limbaugh teed me off today when he said 68% of the employable workers were working... and the other 30% weren't working... but were eating... I'm in last latter group... and I worked over 40 years to get there... screw Limbaugh...

I doubt he was talking about retirees and was referring to those who are able to, but have given up during this robust economy.
The economy sucks no matter what spin one puts on it. That is what I am "teed" off about.

Pretty easy to make the rate what you want when you stop counting people that have given up looking, etc. Just like the inflation index. When you don't count food, energy and healthcare, I guess it would be low? Anybody that believes that rate, I have some beachfront in Kansas I'd love to discuss with you. I don't count location, so it's reasonable..

The labor force participation rate includes all employable individuals over the age of 16 years of age... and I am employable...

This morning on the CBS news, I heard them say that over 800,000 left the labor force last month. You'll have to ask CBS what that means..

I think this must be what they were talking about... fluctuates like a yo yo... not much different than it was this time last year... and that's good considering the effects of technology, outsourcing, and off shoring...
The civilian labor force dropped by 806,000 in April, following an increase of 503,000 in March. The labor force participation rate fell by 0.4 percentage point to 62.8 percent in April. The participation rate has shown no clear trend in recent months and currently is the same as it was this past October. The employment-population ratio showed no change over the month (58.9 percent) and has changed little over the year.

Frightening numbers, really. Only handouts and credit cards stop folks from rioting in streets.

Or the library lest you encounter George Elliot or Daniel DeFoe.

Frightening numbers, really. Only handouts and credit cards stop folks from rioting in streets. When a society resorts to credit to fund it's consumption, it becomes a sign of dysfunction. Unless one believes Krugman and most of our leadership - then it is the solution to enabling prosperity. It's easy to convince folk that consuming on someone elses dime is the key to prosperity for all.

It is getting obvious that Obama's government stupidity hasn't finished screwing the middle class yet.
Wall St is happy, Washington DC is happy, so no one cares about us
