Straight people who adopt also need others to do the heavy lifting, sorry your "edjamacation" missed that little fact too. Well half the country supports gay marriage and you will soon be on that losing side, like so many other sides that are you are also losing. Let me give you a quick block of instruction in biology. Gays, by definition, can't breed. That means that a female had to be impregnated by a male. Regardless of who "adopts" the child, that's how the child got here. And half the country has been brainwashed to believe in global warming, so I don't put much stock in your numbers on gay marriage.I question those numbers myself, but I don't attribute it to indoctrination. I think fear is likely a better reason. Speak out against gay marriage, and the typical response is "bigot" or "homophobe." Question global warming and you're apt to join the ranks of "Holocaust deniers" or "climate criminals." So unless one is a damn-the-torpedoes type, it's best to just play it safe. (For what it's worth, numerous polls now indicate a growing number of people questioning global warming. Maybe it's a trend, or maybe it's easier to diss a polar bear or a coral reef than a gay person.)
I think when it comes to any sensitive topic, people want to appear--at least outwardly--as neutral as possible. Remember David Dinkins? In 1989 he was attempting to become the first black mayor of New York. Virtually every poll showed him with as much as a 15-point lead over Republican Rudy Giuliani. Yet when the final votes were tallied, he won by the slimmest of margins. Then there's the curious case of David Duke. Remember when he sought a U.S. Senate seat from Louisiana back in the mid-90s? He never achieved his goal, but the results showed him with 20 percent more of the vote than the pre-polls suggested.
What happened? Well, in the case of David Dinkins, perhaps a number of white voters (a constituency Dinkins went hard after) didn't want to seem racist, so they simply said that, yes, they'd support the black candidate. When they got to the polls, however, their votes told a different story. (It's also interesting to note that in his recent memoir, Dinkins attributed his narrow victory over Giuliani as well as his narrow defeat four years later against the same, to--you guessed it--racism. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't, I guess.) In the case of David Duke, it isn't a stretch to assume that people didn't want it known that they actually supported a former Klansman.
Speaking of polls, a September Pew Research poll suggested that gay-marriage opposition may be understated by as much as 5 to 7 percent. In this case, the study's authors attribute the discrepancy to what they call "social desirability" bias, meaning that--like race or climate science--people tend to give what they consider to be the socially acceptable view rather than disclose their true feelings about sensitive topics. Again, there are probably many who find it better to stay near the bag rather than take a sizeable lead off first.
Yes, polls can and do lie. But that's only because people lie.

Keep up the great posts. That kind of posts loses elections!! When the Pubs take over, and they will, I hope you stick around here so we can see your complete and total hypocrisy in full bloom. At least, for the most part, I tend to post an opinion. No one really knows your opinion on anything because you mostly just post snide comments. Although we do know that you hate all Pubs and Catholics. I don't know how you contain all that tolerance?!

Yeah so did a big old bunch of women. Did you know that women are the majority when it comes to gender in the US? What do you think women think are important when they vote? Wages and Health Insurance. What have the Pubes done for anyone lately? Oh yeah they shut down the Government over a law they couldn't change, and voted over 50x to repeal it. Now are you so sure you are going to win? I would agree with that if only old rich white guys were voting, and even though the Pubes have tried to stop some from voting, and people saw that too.

It was the Marxicrats that shut down the government, because they didn't want the Pubs being seen as doing what the Marxicrats did themselves 2 weeks later, and The Puppet has been doing illegally all along.

Can't understand why some would not want everyone to have healthcare.

You can't understand it because it isn't happening. Some people do not want healthcare because they are not sick, some people are willing to chance getting sick and take the consequences. Those people are responsible for themselves, I can't understand people who want other people to pay for their choices.

So...if you don't want some nanny-state taxing you to death and ordering your business to pay certain salaries regardless of employee's value, you're an idiot? Keep in mind-- equal pay doesn't mean women have to get raises. They can just lower men's salaries. Someone doesn't know much about economics---- and that someone is a liberal---- par for course, really.

Our previous two Presidents (Bush and O) have run the country into the ground. I know you don't believe that, well the Bush part you do. But you believe everything MSNBC tells you so there's really no hope for you.

Can't understand why some would not want their wives, mothers or daughters paid the same as their husbands, fathers or sons. Can't understand why some would not want everyone to have healthcare. I can't understand it either, largely because women typically do make as much.
Yes, women do earn the much-ballyhooed $0.77 to every dollar men make, but only (emphasis on the word only) if a comparison is made between the median incomes of the two sexes. However, this does not hold true when comparing men and women holding the exact same job title in the exact same field. (And just to cover our bases here, yes, General Motors CEO Mary Barra makes less than her predecessor, as I believe HuffPo rather, well, huffily reported. What they neglected to reveal however, is that Ms. Barra is being paid only as the CEO, while the man she succeeded, Dan Akerson, served in the dual roles of CEO and Chairman.)
According to the Department of Labor, men also average 8.75 hours per day on the job, whereas women average just over eight. Why the longer hours? Well, men tend to work in fields such as construction, manufacturing and trucking, vocations that typically require more than just an eight-hour day. These are also jobs which tend to get hit hardest by recession, which helps explain why unemployment rates are typically higher among men than women. (Funny, but I don't hear anyone decrying that "disparity.") There are also many incidences in which women may earn less than men in the aggregate, but only because they scaled back their hours in order to be with the kids. If you were to project their hours out to 40 per week, they'd make as much or more than their spouse.
(Not that raising kids isn't work. As I've told many a stay-at-home mom who was informed she "didn't work," You sure as hell do; the only difference is that no one cuts you a check at the end of the week.)
The truth is, if women could truly be hired at three-quarters of the pay of men for the same job, the workforce would be almost 100 percent female. No employer in their right mind would ever hire a man because it would immediately put them at a competitive disadvantage. Just to be clear, no one is stating that sexism doesn't exist, or that some women don't get treated unfairly, but the idea of hiring ready and willing women to do the same job as a man at a lower wage is inconceivable from both a practical and economic standpoint.

Those that were eligiable for Medicare, but didn't sign up until his SA troopers stuck them there when they tried to get Puppettax? Or was it all those illegal aliens he signed up?

Good post, but I would bet that it gets dismissed by lefties, even though it was the same thing said by jay Carney when defending the white house pay disparity. When it comes to lefties the truth doesn't matter, just how they can spin it to their political advantage with the koolaid drinkers. This new legislation solves no problems and will probably harm more women then help. Given that it is just another tool for women who are not good workers to get even when they get fired, or are just plain worth less than the man doing the same job. Employers might just be less willing to hire women if they can get less hassels by hiring men.
