I have lived in the same house for over 40 yrs. When I was growing up we didn't speak to our neighbor because the Mother called the cops on us all the time over stupid things. We walked on their grass, we were playing catch in the street and the ball touched their tire, etc. One time they called the cops because my brother and I were trying to get a wasp nest out of our shed with a rake and were making too much noise at 3pm. My Mom asked the officer if it was against the law to bang on a shed at 3pm, he said No, but we got a call so I had to come out. While the officer was still there my Mom took an Oar and banged on the shed as loud as she could. The cop was laughing. Once the Mother passed away we got along fine. Talked with them, and they would always borrow tools to make repairs around their house. In May they were involved in a car accident in the city. I had to take a family member to Hopkins hospital to be with them, then back there a couple hours later to pick them up. They had a rental vehicle and they were disputing who was at fault. The insurance company gave them a rental for a month then decided they weren't going to pay anymore. So they wanted to sue the insurance company. They want to sue the City PD because the officer that handled the accident was taking too long to call their insurance company to answer some questions. They called the Mayors officer to report the officer as well as reporting him to his superiors. They rented another car at their for another 6 weeks at $275 a week. BTW, only one person in the house works and he works PT at a pizza shop. The other two people in the house collect SSDI. We loaned them a ladder at Halloween time and they just recently returned it in July. We had to ask for it back. They didn't bother to put it back where it belong they just threw it over the fence. Needless to say that kinda pissed me off. Earlier this week they asked me for a ride to MVA to return their tags from the vehicle that was totaled. Im afraid if I get in an accident with her, or hit the brakes hard she will want to sue me for injuries. She is just that type of person. Well I told her that I dont allow passengers in my car for fear of being sued and thats not a risk im willing to take. Well she got all PO'ed and said you could take me to Hopkins, pick me up from Hopkins, then pick me up another time from Upper Chesapeake Hospital but you cant take me to MVA? She told me that she would never do that to her friend and I was to never speak to her again and im dead to her. I said well you consider someone a friend only when they can do things for you? I also mentioned the ladder just being thrown over the fence. She said she didn't know where the ladder went and she tried to get her son and husband to take it back and they wouldn't. Said if I was gonna blame her for stuff to get my facts straight. Then she deleted her FB account. dont ya just love USERS!!!

I feel for ya...
I have had the same neighbors since 1973. They are great. We watch out for each other and help each other out all the time. I can't imagine having AH's for neighbors. Has to be a PITA.

Hey, if they aren't gonna use it, maybe you and your family should! Hop in and yell to them to bring ya a beer!!
My neighbors must be thinking we have abandoned our pool too. I don't think I have been in at all in August... things have been nuts and summer is just flying by!!

You can't pick your neighbours, and with neighbours like that you're better off with the silent treatment.
In the states, we have a fabulous neighbor, and brand new ones on the other side that I haven't gotten a chance to meet since they moved in the week we left. I think it's their first house and they were over there hauling, chopping and mowing...so that's a good sign. Over here everyone is fab, except for the one nutcase that we had to have served with a no trespassing notice. The other neighbours, and our solicitor, were up in arms over the way he was treating us. He is currently behaving himself because the GardaĆ are keeping an eye on him, and we installed additional outside lights and a Bushnell camera...nothing says neighbourly love like a Bushnell wildlife camera-LOL.

Oh, eww... good point! While I have not been in mine, we have kept it clean!! Switching to salt water was a great decision!! Salt suppresses algae? What about corrosion on the metal parts? We have had little to no algae this summer! It's been great.
We shocked the pool at the very beginning of the pool season, used salt and when we saw small signs of algae we have used Borax. If the pH was out of wack or it wasn't crystal clear we used baking soda.
No signs of corrosion but the only metal part would be around the top of the pool which dry most of the time and not under water.

We've saved a lot in the cost of chemicals and not to mention not using the chemicals is safer for the environment!
