I've heard of Apple Pie Shine before, but usually I hear of it in wilds of West Virginia during quiet, private conversations. Can I assume we're talking about two different things here?

The recipe calls for Everclear but I would recommend using some of the moonshine made in the wilds of WV and only talked about in private conversations!! If you happen to know where you could possibly get some!! If not, Everclear will work just fine.

Made my first batch this weekend.... pretty good stuff! Pint size mason jars will make nice little Christmas gifts!! A guy that owns a local saloon makes the stuff up at home and brings it in for his regular customers. Damn good stuff, and it packs a wallop too!

I'm not much of a moonshine drinker (bad experience a long time ago) but this stuff really tastes good! I won't drink it but I know plenty of people that will.
I'm gonna do another batch and add more spices instead of just cinnamon!!

here's the recipe that we used...YUM!
1 gallon apple cider 1/2 gallon apple juice 7 cinnamon sticks 1 cup granulated sugar 1 3/4 cups brown sugar 4 cups (32 oz.) Everclear (grain alcohol) REMEMBER: Add this AFTER the above mixture has cooled to room temperature
Combine first five ingredients in a large pot, stir in the sugar until it has dissolved and boil for 15 minutes, you are doing this to create a syrup to add the alcohol into. Remove from heat. Let cool to room temperature, if you don't let it cool you will lose alcohol due to evaporation. Remove cinnamon sticks and then add 4 cups of Everclear. Pour into mason jars or glass bottles.
This makes about 7 quarts. This recipe will be about 13-15% alcohol or 26-30 proof, it will depend on how much liquid evaporates when you boil the ingredients. ENJOY!!! Plus...your house will smell yummy!

Very close to the one I used.. 1 gallon apple cider 1/2 gallon apple juice 1 cup sugar 1 cup brown sugar - I used dark 6 cinamon sticks 750 ml Everclear Heat the first 5 ingredients together until the sugars are dissolved. Allow mixture to cool completely. Add the Everclear. Mixture will fill 12 pint sized mason jars. Bottoms up and cheers!

PL - we had our annual Christmas Eve party this past Saturday (I called it my Christmas Eve Eve Eve party). I gave each guest one to take home, not too many jars were full when they left! My witches brew batch turned out GREAT! I was also told to try it with vanilla vodka instead of Everclear!!
