I surely loathe that song. Makes me want to open a vein.

While waiting for my boy to finish his haircut something called the Italian Christmas Donkey came through the speakers. It was the most bizarre and awful thing I ever heard. It even had donkey sounds in the song. The 10 people in there all had a general WTH comment.

EARPLUGS, earplugs are sacred(and sometimes necessary) this time of year.

"Crabs for Christmas" is wearing VERY thin.

I surely loathe that song. Makes me want to open a vein. Now that's something we agree on. What a horrible abortion of a song that is. There are a couple of variations on that theme floating around too... the 'be grateful for what you have because I'm going to describe something truly awful for you to contemplate instead' songs. It seems to have been written to make everyone miserable.

EARPLUGS, earplugs are sacred(and sometimes necessary) this time of year. I used to think that. Then I re-discovered some of the truly traditional music. Most of the carols that were written before about 1750 have held up very well. Especially if you have someone really talented singing it. Or a really good choir. Otherwise, I agree with you. No one has written any good Christmas music in almost 300 years. George Frederick Handel nuked the genre when he wrote "Messiah" in 1741 and literally no one has been able to do anything decent with it since.

How about a reggae Christmas song? It's not traditional, but I like it.

I was into classical music when other kids were listening to Elvis and The Beatles...aka being a bit of a geek. Yep, I was one of those 8 year olds who wanted a book about classical composers for Christmas (which I still have). Love Handel's "Messiah" (it was first performed in Dublin, what's not to love ), and Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" always has me humming along. Then there is my MAN- Beethoven ( the Master of Fire and Thunder) reminds you a bit of Grumpy Cat, but could he compose! The chorale from his 9th Symphony (aka "Ode to Joy"), written after he had become deaf, absolutely makes my heart soar.

There's really nothing like Ludwig Van to sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence. Sorry... couldn't resist. I love the 9th... and "A Clockwork Orange."
