What are they bring to do, empty the store before she goes in? I don't know if you're being facetious or not, but, yeah. They have done things like that. Presidents in this country are either very fearful, or their minders are. Your views on the president and his security sounds more like something from a South American Junta or some other third world administration. So much for "the land of the free".

They are not "my views". If you don't believe me, try approaching the president and see what happens. Try going somewhere he's scheduled to be. Maybe in a parliamentary country it is different since the PM can be replaced more easily; I don't know. Despite the fact that we supposedly have free speech, both Bush (43) and Obama have permitted restrictions on how close folks may be to exercise that right. Because people actually voicing their opinion might ruin the videos and photos. There's a lot of things that are in the Constitution, and then there's what the leaders allow people to do. In theory the Constitutionality of such rules could be challenged in court, but so far, no one seems interested in doing so.

My wife walked up to Bill Clinton and shook his hand in the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington... no problem... I was with her... for her own protection, of course...

Her story would have more validity if this happened prior to becoming first lady.

Wonder what scenario will be used the next time the Target story is told.

Wonder what scenario will be used the next time the Target story is told. At the rate this story is going, the story will include a Klan rally in the lobby..

I must have missed something... where in this Target" story does the First Lady say the fellow shopper asked her to reach up for something on the shelf was because of some kind of "racism?"... I've done the same thing many times in my experiences because I am rather tall... (did it in Walmart just last week... got a lady 4 packages of instant soup and crackers off the tops shelf)... I have even volunteered to do that more times than I've been asked to do it when I saw someone trying to reach something on a high shelf... (especially if she was good looking )... I don't remember what "race/color" the shopper was...

Her story would have more validity if this happened prior to becoming first lady. Michelle Obama stands 5' 11" tall... how tall are you?... Elizabeth Kucinich is even taller... Yes, Breakingbad... I've met 'em both face-to-face...

I've often been asked to get something from a high shelf, I am always ready to oblige and I have never considered it demeaning, nor racist in the least.

Wonder what scenario will be used the next time the Target story is told. All depends on who writes the story... they may tell more than one version... she seems to have told only one... This OP article seems to have told Michelle's original story... but the writer included it an other comments about the President having been mistaken as a person who was working what many would like to stereotype as a Black person's job... I see no indication of "racism" being either charged or implied in the Target story... simply didn't identify the First Lady for who she was... otherwise they'd likely have asked for her autograph... and been embarrassed... The maker of the OP seems to have been duped... or just wanted to "allege" something that never happened...

In this case, we've got a reporter looking for 'racism' and they've ended up with Michelle Obama complaining because a short person asked her (a tall person) to reach something she couldn't reach. This isn't to say rape and racism don't exist. Indeed, Michelle's suggestion that a fellow human being asking her for a little help is an example of racism is, itself, an example of racism. Even the maker of the OP knew this... so why the hell make a thread and titled it as he did?... is it to get a "rise"... or "anger someone else?"... I don't see where the First Lady suggested this was an act of racism... only someone needing a little help... and Michelle is 5' 11"...

The secret service would not have allowed a random person to approach the first lady. I think she was more upset that the person didn't know who she was ...... Was she upset?... or just surprised that she didn't recognize her... I was in Buffalo Wild Wings last evening and had placed my order... which was "To Go"... while I was waiting for my order, talking and joking with the good looking waitresses... (which is what I do)... a lady who had been seated with her family on the opposite side of the dining area came up to me and asked "me" if I could please get a waitress over to their table... I smiled and told her I'd have someone right over... (which I did)... the waitresses I was talking to almost busted a gut laughing... so did I... And before anyone asks... the waitresses with whom I was talking were not in charge of that particular area where the woman and her family were seated... so I did not detain them from doing their jobs... This kind of sh!t happens, guys...

It doesn't surprise me that Michelle would say this. On the basis of her past statements it seems clear to her that she believes any reversal a person of color experiences is because of a white racist somewhere. She's obsessed with being a victim. Did she say the woman who asked for help was White?... I didn't think so...

They are not "my views". If you don't believe me, try approaching the president and see what happens. Try going somewhere he's scheduled to be. Security is tight these days with all the gun nuts running around... but John Hinkley, who had checked his schedule the day before, was withing 15 feet of Ronald Reagan on March 30, 1980 on that sidewalk at the Washington Hilton... And yes, Breakingbad... I was in the hotel at the time... but it was the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill...

Nope... just telling people like you what you want to hear... the "Target" incident seemed to have had nothing to do with embarrassment, other than to the FL because she may not have been recognized as the FL... and the other shopper may have never even known that she was... the FL didn't elaborate and say whether or not she did what was requested of her by the other shopper... (I'm bettin' she did)... or even told the other shopper who she was... maybe neither cared... maybe both just shopping... the FL seems to have just thought it was humorous...
Maybe you know different... if you do, please let us know...

I'm not sure how you can make that claim,. The interview with the first couple was all about how they have had to deal with racism. She related that story in that context. Unfortunately, she had a totally different story back in 2012. She got caught in a lie, plain and simple. These two are so shallow. But at least they have folks like you that will try their darndest to deflect for them.
