Heard on the radio. He had to know, with his injury problems and the drafting of Stanley, that his days here were numbered.

Harbaugh was saying the other day that a number of teams were "inquiring about Monroe," which I find a bit hard to believe. There would be precious few takers for a guy scheduled to make $6.5 million this season with a history of not being able to stay healthy. The Ravens gave up a fourth and fifth round pick to acquire Monroe, but that was when he actually still wanted to play and was making considerably less money. They weren't going to get a pair of used cleats for him now.
Since trades are treated the same as releases for cap purposes, the Ravens were going to have to absorb the dead money either way. I imagine that they'll designated Monroe as a post June 1 release, thereby enabling them to spread the cap hit out over two years instead of one.
The Ravens certainly didn't want Monroe on the roster when training camp opens next month. Should he have gotten hurt during that time (a pretty fair possibility considering his history), they'd have had to keep him on the roster and pay his salary until he was medically cleared. No way they were going to do that.
