last sunday my little stewie couldn't walk his backend was down. took him to the emergency clinic and the xrays showed a bad disk pinching on the spinal cord. We had to take him to a nuero surgeon in Westminister,MD. Surgery went well but it will take 6 to 8 weeks with an 85% chance of recovery. He was only 3yrs old so putting him down was not an option the trick is finding over $6,000 to pay the vet.

Wishing your dog a full and speedy recovery. My dog is insured but he still costs me many £100's a year in meds and deductibles. They are worth every penny.

Here's hoping for a full recovery. It is vitally important to keep him from moving too much while he heals. Best of luck to you!

That's one of the nice perks that we have here at work...pet insurance. I have a dog suffering from Myopthia (sp?) and the insurance covers all the meds and vet visits.

What's pet insurance premiums run? It depends on age (and breed). My beagle, now seven, costs ~ £38.00/month, when he was a pup it was ~ £20.00/month - I pay the first £75.00 of each claim.

We've got a $500 deductible. Then I pay out of pocket and submit the receipt to the insurance company. It usually takes about 30 days to be reimbursed. Our cat got in a fight with a coyote. That would have cost $1600.
