Baltimore Ravens Defense Ranked No. 1 In NFL November 14, 2016 2:10 PM The Baltimore Ravens’ defense is now ranked No. 1 in the NFL and the team sits a top the AFC North (5-4). Thanks to players like Brandon Williams, Michael Pierce Terrell Suggs, C.J. Mosley and Eric Weddle, this defense has the potential to become the third-best in team history. baltimore.cbslocal.com/2016/11/14/baltimore-ravens-defense-ranked-no-1-in-nfl/

Their strategy to win on Sunday will involve denying the Cowboys Elliott's services, and forcing them to go over the top. That's risky because the secondary is the shakiest part of the defense. But if they let Elliott run they will lose, since Joe is struggling. They'll have more flexibility on defense if Joe plays all four quarters, which he did not do last week.

The Ravens are only ranked No. 22 in red zone defense, which is cause for some concern. I'm also a little leery of that ranking, because it includes two games against the godawful Browns, the Steelers with a one-legged Roethlisberger, as well as games against Blake Bortles and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
As of right now, I'd say the schedule still favors Pittsburgh, their defensive shortcomings notwithstanding. They still have two dates with Cleveland, and unlike the Ravens, they've already faced the likes of Dallas, New England and Philadelphia. By comparison, the Ravens still have the heart of their schedule in front of them. If their defense can still maintain a semblance of that lofty status in the weeks ahead, then I'll be better convinced they have something.

I expect the Ravens to finish the last quarter of the season 0-4, unless Joe has turned a corner as appeared to possibly be the case last game. The Ravens toughest opponents are ahead of them, and it would not surprise me if we've seen their last victory of the season. Even with a stalwart defense you've got to score some points. Against better defenses than the Browns and the Steelers, they won't. Joe and the offense have to play all four quarters of the game, and the defense likewise. No more of that "Pees-vent" defense in the fourth quarters of games that lets good offenses right back in, assuming you're ahead.
A long losing streak might actually help them in the long run, as I continue to believe that Harbaugh has lost the locker room and that he is a poor judge of coordinator talent. I think he needs to go.
