That's not going to happen. It didn't happen in any of the other cities where noncitizens can vote like Takoma Park. It makes sense, they live in the community they're affectedd by the actions the government takes. They should have a say in the matter and a vote.

So I guess by the same argument, they should participate in the national elections too.

Back in the day when the Maryland Constitution was written the only prerequisite to vote was being a white male landowner. It didn't matter what country you were a citizen of.
The other nine jurisdiction that allow non citizens to vote haven't had any problems. I think thr oldest goes back to the mid 1970's. The world didn't stop turning. I don't think we want taxation without representation.
