I read the books a long time ago. While they were a good read I don't think they'll translate well to the big screen. I'm thinking it'll miss the mark much like The Watchmen did. Ender's Game the book had a slower moving plot than The Watchmen.
The other possibility is that it only vaguely follows the book and ends up being as ridiculous as Starship Troopers.

They will probably ruin it, by changing the <spoiler> on which the entire story hangs.

They will probably ruin it, by changing the <spoiler> on which the entire story hangs. Which made it the slow moving morality play that it was. That is why I don't think it will translate well to the big screen without getting rid of that. Of course, if you get rid of that then you're left with a special effects show with a botched plot. See Will Smith's version of I Am Legend. The movie botched why Neville was a legend and who he was a legend to. That was a stunningly huge disappointment.

Story was way cool. I hope they don't ruin it----the special effects look cool and all- but that tends to be Hollywood- great effects, screw the story.

We are ready! The BR family is off tomorrow, so we may try to catch an early show.
Little BR and I have read it, but MrBR has not. I am going to try to not compare it to the book while I am watching it. I am just hoping it's entertaining even if it's not faithful to the book.

We saw it last night. MrBR liked it on its own. Little BR and I did some comparisons with the book, and I think it stayed pretty true to it. There were a number of parts left out. They didn't go into the brother's character much, and I would like to have seen more of the training battles, but overall I liked it. It was pretty dark, but that is the point of the story. I thought Asa Butterfield nailed the role. He made Ender look like a lost little kid at times and a vicious military mind at others.

We saw it yesterday and really liked it, although we were unfamiliar with the books. Good movie, though, and the kids in it (as well as the adults) were excellent, IMO.
