you haven't lived until you are in a log jam of gondolas in the river and a wind comes up.

you haven't lived until you are in a log jam of gondolas in the river and a wind comes up. Even though I can swim, I have some "water issues" stemming from early childhood. You would have laughed yourself silly if you were in our gondola. It would roll a bit, and I would start to throw myself to the opposite side. Hubby would grab me in a hug and say "It's OK, sit still.". Crazy Yank in the gondola, wonder how many people have pictures of that. I'll post a few more picts tomorrow.

Nice!! When you say your mortgage is under water there, it really means under water!!! Well, only the first level . Don't believe the naysayers when they say the water is filthy and it smells. Don't know when that might have been, but it certainly wasn't this year. Beautiful, clean city and water with very friendly folk. Stunning architecture, tons of history, and good eats- my kind of place.

Did you make it to Harry's? Nope, I was busy running around snapping picture of bridges, going through medieval buildings, and jumping around a gondola like a landed trout!

I sure hope Venice doesn't spring a leak... That's how I felt about the gondola.

Nope, I was busy running around snapping picture of bridges, going through medieval buildings, and jumping around a gondola like a landed trout! I've observed people jumping around like a landed trout in Harry's. Police think alcohol may have been involved. I'm safe there, never had an alcoholic drink, but don't begrudge others theirs as long as they don't get sloppy drunk. I've had sloppy drunks grab my left hand and view my wedding bands like they're doing a jewelry appraisal then drool on my hand, run their fingers through my hair, massaging my head until my friends finally said "That's the first time I've seen head sex!", and pick me up on Howard Street (moons ago, 5PM and tons of people on the street) , tuck me firmly under his arm(he was 6'5" if he was an inch) and drag me kicking and screaming two blocks toward an alley( no one would help me or run for the police a few blocks away- the guy was so large I think they were afraid)...only got away when I got an arm free and grabbed a handful of "nads" and twisted as hard as I could. I don't like to be mean or confrontational, BUT !! So I tend to avoid sloppy drunks like the plague!! So, sadly, I guess Harry's isn't for me. They'll have to join me in the gondola if they want to play the trout game. They can drink all of the canal water they would like.

Did you make it to Harry's? Is Harry's anywhere near the Rialto Bridge? They were having a wild party in a garden setting near the bridge.

If the party was at Harry's and you heard them it must have been one hell of a party.

Now THAT would be one hell of a party-LOL! I guess I wasn't anywhere near Harry's then. We did sit and have liquid libation under the stars in San Marco Piazza while listening to a small band one night. Very nice!
