The Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show will be replaced by the Great American Outdoor Show and will once again be held at the complex in Harrisburg. www.greatamericanoutdoorshow.org/The show has been picked up by the NRA who have an agreement with a promoter. It is supposed to be even bigger than it was before last year's controversy. I am very much looking forward to attending. As much as I always liked to fish I have never even been to that part of the show. I can't seem to leave the outfitter and firearms section. I'll be stopping by to visit the outfitter I went with this past October for Mule Deer and Antelope www.trophyridgeoutfitters.com/mainsite/index.htm as well as check into the possibilty of a hog hunting trip somewhere.

Mayor Linda Thompson: "It's sending the NRA a loud message."As she was leading Harrisburg down the road to bankruptcy, she commented that Harrisburg wouldn't miss the revenue the Outdoor Sports show brought to the area economy and Harrisburg's tax account. Mayor Linda Thompson eating two crow entrees. Linda Thompson's term as Harrisburg's mayor will soon be over. She is being replaced.

I read those same comments. All I could think of her was "What a goof". She obvioulsy did not understand the concept of "grassroots" opposition to the position the original promoter took. While the NRA honored the boycott they did not start it, it was started by exhibitors who were upset by the actions of the promoter. At that time the NRA was just another exhibitor that took part in the boycott.
Maybe instead of immediately siding with the knee-jerk anti-gun actions of the promoter she should have talked to the boycotters, gotten to understand their position, and then worked with the promoter to resolve the issue. Just another elected official who was, and probably still is, ignorant of the 2nd Amendment issue and how strongly we feel about it.
