Keith Mills compared Hunter, the Orioles closer, to Don Stanhouse, who was legendary for giving Earl Weaver fits. Stanhouse would get himself into serious trouble, and then get himself out if it, as a reliever. Hunter has done that in his last two appearances as a closer.

I can see that.

The only thing missing is Buck puffing away on a pack of Raleighs.
I don't think Hunter has pitched a clean inning thus far this season. Sooner or later, the law of averages has got to start catching up with him.

Weaver used to call Stanhouse "Full Pack" because that's how many ciggies he'd go through while suffering through another one of Stanhouse's attempts to close the game.

No problem as long as they always give him at least a 2 run lead.

Batters are hitting something like .320 off Hunter thus far, and his WHIP is up around 1.50. He ain't fooling anyone.

Cannot leave fastballs and breaking stuff in the middle of the plate when behind in the count.
Pitching 101.
Hunter reminds of Benitez more then Stanhouse.

Stanhouse kept his job because he kept doing it, despite running up the price of tobacco stocks. Hunter, so far, isn't that good. But all closers blow saves. It's time for Buck to begin considering options, to himself, but not time to fire him from that role, I feel.

Hunter doesn't seem like the answer at closer.
Gonzalez seems like he's done as a major league pitcher. Just never any good any more.

Looks like Hunter has lost the closer's job, at least for now.
Zach Britton pitched a perfect ninth to get the save against Kansas City tonight. As long as he's throwing strikes and is getting hitters out, keep going with him.

I saw that in the boxscore this morning. I hope he can do the job. It was obvious that Hunter gives up too many homers watching him last year. He's a better setup guy.

Until Britton screws up, he should keep the job.
Seeing him out there, I sometimes wonder if he should be given a start. Then I remember what that was like. He's fine where he is.

Hunter was placed on the DL yesterday.

Yeah. That has the smell of subterfuge about it, IMO.
