I was getting my hair cut Saturday and talked baseball with my barber. He said he figured Gausman was going to get slapped around bigtime on his first start back in the bigs that evening.
Imagine my suprise at the quality start he had! Went the distance and more, racked up what? 5,6 Ks? and didn't allow many hits, and pitched his way out of the few spots he got into, threw the heat in the upper '90s...
I am starting to like this guy. If he stays like this consistently, we may have something.

Consistency has been the big problem the last couple of years. I suspect they need new hitting and pitching coaches. Look at Ubaldo's start: two good innings, then he falls apart. Tillman starts the year strong, then puts of four bad starts in five appearances.
Gausman was that way last year. In the past, so were Britton, Matusz and the now departed Arieta. I'll going to need a few good starts in a row from Gausman before I'm convinced, but his last outing showed promise.

This young man has dissappointed me in the past, but...he did show promise Saturday night. Let's hope he keeps it up. I value consistency in a person, but in a major league pitcher, it is a pure necessity.

If they could find 1, consistent top of the rotation guy it would make a huge difference. They've got a whole staff of 3s,4s, and 5s (which is at least improvement from when they had 6s, 7s, and Sir Sidney).

2 good starts by Gausman. It would be so awesome if he could become a genuine #1 or #2 starter. They haven't had one since Mussina left.

I'm encouraged. Those glasses sure remind me of Charlie Sheen from "Major League" though...

Three good starts from him. And who was that setup man, and what did he do with the real Tommy Hunter?

It's beginning to look as if the Orioles' best options for pitching help were from within and not via free agency. (And yes, I have to admit that I was initially in favor of the Jiminez signing.)

This organization just mystifies me. They're trying to develop Gausman, and... they send him back to AAA?!? Move Gonzales to the bullpen; he's not really starter quality most of the time. Or even Jimenez (although yesterday's loss was certainly not his fault, he is still staggeringly overpaid for what he has done here). Don't damage the man's confidence; it's like his reward for pitching well was to get screwed.

I think it's a technicality to work around the 25 or 40 man limit. He's supposed to start for the Os again this week, maybe Friday.

I'm sure it is a technicality; as one of the comments to the article at the O's website noted; Buck and Dan run the team like a fantasy team in some ways. I believe the current idea is that Gausman will return on Friday when a double header means they can have a 26th player; I suppose that Brach will go back down.
I lack confidence in the front office's ability to run the farm system correctly. It seems in recent years that they either cannot select players well, or cannot develop them properly, especially pitching. The draft choices they have made have generally not be greeted with incredulity by knowledgeable baseball people, leading me to suspect the problem is in development. So I'd rather not have players that get here and have proven they're likely to play well spend any more time in the farm system. I consider it a risk to their skill and their confidence.

From what I've read, Gausman perfectly understands why he's being sent down and doesn't regard it as an actual demotion. He won't miss a start in the majors, although he will be sent back down after Friday to fulfill the 10-day requirement after a demotion. It's rather standard procedure, and of course, one that can typically involve starting pitchers since they aren't every day players.

I hope he understands it at every level. I also understand it, but I can understand a thing and not like it.
