A four game sweep of the (struggling right now) Rangers. It is not the first time they have swept a series this year (they swept the Rays twice and the Pirates once, but it is the first time they have swept a four game series. And it puts them in sole possession of first place (admittedly, by a scant .001 points). But I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Nice timing for the Os to play Texas and the Jays taking on the As.
1st place on july 6. Can't complain.

With the Jays losing their best hitter how, and the rest of the division looking pretty weak, even pathetic, it's the Orioles division to lose. Need to go into the break strong, after they have a tough swing out west.

Nice 11th inning barrage tonight against the Nats. Maybe Chris Davis is beginning to break out of that arctic slump a bit. I always felt that last season was a bit of a fluke, but he's certainly (hopefully) better than what he's shown thus far this season. Nelson Cruz can't carry the offense every night.
A good outing for Tillman tonight against Stephen Strasburg, which is another encouraging sign.

Manny is really heating up now. If Davis can get over his case of the "yips", the O's will win the division going away.

I'm a little worried we're seeing the real Davis now, and last year was some kind of anomaly. I hope he proves me wrong, but this struggle has been going on for longer than a simple slump.

He did hit over 30 homers in 2012. He is streaky as is Cruz. Last year Davis was hitting to all fields. Maybe his injury is not completely healed.

I think the defensive shifts have factored into Davis's protracted struggles.
His strikeout rates are almost identical to last season, and his walks are actually up a bit, so I don't think it's merely a case of pitchers "figuring him out." What pitchers may be doing, however, is keeping the ball down in the strike zone more, which results in more line drives and grounders into the shifts. Davis simply hasn't been able to get the ball into the air as much as he did last season.
