I certainly think this is a dumb idea for Mrs. Obama to support. That is what I was inferring. I didn't look at Mr Ignored but I bet he didn't get it.
Grocery stores for years have attemtpted to keep customers from stealing carts without success. The locking systems can be breached and/or the carts destroyed.

The cost of these damn hi tech carts will cause food prices to rise if the stores have to buy and maintain them.
OR
Taxes to go up if the onus is put on the taxpayer.
Michelle shove your talking carts.

That Michelle thinks this is a good idea tells us something important about her brainpower. That she hasn't got any.

Do YOU think this is a good idea? If so, why? And how do you propose implementing it given the various objections I cited earlier? Or, explain why my objections are irrational.

I look forward to it - everything I like - bacon, sausage, scrapple, pork chops, red meat, red wine, brown liquor, sugar, starch, etc. is probably on her forbidden list. All I have to do is walk through the aisles and pick up whatever I'm warned against.
After I make it through the checkout line, I'll offer a ceremonious Moon to FLOTUS - or maybe a Happy Dog.

Well a talking grocery cart would be smarter than either of the Obamas. What did you think of rocketwolfs ridiculous comment? I thought it was funny, and possibly true. How much RAM would be in those carts?

This is mind boggling in its stupidity. Don't politicians (and their wives) know anything about human nature? No obviously not. A much simpler solution is to allow SNAP to only buy those healthy (expensive) items, and nothing else. I have always proposed that snap should only buy beans rice, salt and pepper, add some vegetables, and you now have a relatively healthy diet. Beer, cigs, drugs, meat, cookies, ... can all be bought with the under the table cash that these welfare types always seem to have. Treating people like children will cause them to act like children. You forgot cigs, liquor and lottery tickets! Got to keep the slaves happy and voting democratic. How come America is the only place where the poor people are fat? Democrats don't give a crap about people only votes and the people that keep them in power. As long as a SNAP cards keep voting D they don't care as long as too many don't kill each other.

It goes like this. If the grocery stores don't play along then the government will prohibit them from taking food stamps. So the grocery stores will lobby for a subsidy to have the carts paid for by the taxpayers. The program probably won't change anyone's eating habits but it will line the pockets of a select few. That is how government works. That's possibly true. However, most customers (SNAP or otherwise) won't want this. Some will be actively offended by it. If you're going to mandate that SNAP customers use such carts, how do you enforce that, since the "DEPENDENCE" card doesn't come out until checkout? If you mandate that everyone uses them, the offended will go down the street to the guy that doesn't have it. Or they'll damage the cart so it shuts up. Sure, there are some stores that would go out of business if they were prohibited from taking SNAP payments, but I'll bet most of them would be just fine without those customers. And I'll bet they'd be happy to prove it. It absolutely HAD to be a nanny state liberal that came up with this inane plan. It would be easier to take Michelle seriously if she was a healthy weight herself, but she is not. <libertarian>Why are we trying to help poor people live longer, anyway? That does not make actuarial sense. </libertarian> Ahh man you done did it now calling her a fat ass you must be racist!!!!!

It would be a funny skit for one of the comedy shows. Having the cart say.. " put that back ", " that's not healthy for you " etc ..... On the other hand, if you could hack your way in, think of the fun you could have... u mean like if you want that then get a job???

She's not an elected official, not sure why she is important, I guess. Don't be disingenuous. She wields a lot of power through her husband, who apparently lacks the necessary spine to tell her when she's making a stupid.
