Will receive a cortisone injection, Hardy is "not worried about it". Supposedly will be available for weekend series. (Kubato twitter)

I think I heard this evening that Hardy will also get an MRI. Hardy could have played in the Boston series if the games were absolutely crucial to the division race.

He needs to take good care of himself, so that the Yankees aren't afraid to hire him next year.

He needs to take good care of himself, so that the Yankees aren't afraid to hire him next year. LOL! So true! However, I did hear last night that negotiations with Hardy, and Cruz are currently taking place in the background. So there is hope that we'll lock one, or both of them up long term.

Good news: no serious problems found. Hardy expected to be ready when the team returns home. Evidently, he has been managing this problem all season.

He needs to take good care of himself, so that the Yankees aren't afraid to hire him next year. Jung-Ho Kang, a 27-year-old Korean shortstop, is likely to be posted after this season. The Yankees are said to be one of the teams interested (when aren't they?), along with St. Louis and a few others. He put up impressive power numbers this season and is said to be excellent defensively, but all of that should be applied cautiously since the KRO is said to be on a much lower talent scale than the major leagues. Still, that never stopped the Yankees from spending big before, so maybe they'll be gung-ho for Jung-Ho.
The only other bona fide shortstops besides Hardy who figure to be available this offseason are Asdrubal Cabrera of the Nats and Hanley Ramirez of the Dodgers. Cabrera went south offensively somewhat this season, but he's only 28 so he remains intriguing. Ramirez is talented, but he can't stay healthy and is pretty much a shortstop in name only at this point. Still, the Yankees have spent more and gotten less, so it isn't difficult to imagine them throwing a ton of money at the free agent dartboard this offseason and seeing what sticks.

Supposedly, low-key talks are in progress with Hardy and Cruz. I suspect nothing will happen until their agents learn how deep the Orioles go into the post-season and what roles these two men play in that. Because that's going to drive their already likely to be high prices much higher. Especially Cruz, who I doubt they can keep.

With Davis out, JJ's ability to play becomes paramount since the Orioles now have one less option at third and Flaherty is the only other alternative at shortstop. I'd still rather have Flaherty at third than Kelly Johnson or anyone else that Buck could run out there.
