NY Post: Did the Census Bureau Fudge 2012 Jobs Report?

This confirms my faith in government.

In the home stretch of the 2012 presidential campaign, from August to September, the unemployment rate fell sharply — raising eyebrows from Wall Street to Washington.

The decline — from 8.1 percent in August to 7.8 percent in September — might not have been all it seemed. The numbers, according to a reliable source, were manipulated.
And the Census Bureau, which does the unemployment survey, knew it.

Just two years before the presidential election, the Census Bureau had caught an employee fabricating data that went into the unemployment report, which is one of the most closely watched measures of the economy.

And a knowledgeable source says the deception went beyond that one employee — that it escalated at the time President Obama was seeking reelection in 2012 and continues today.

I'm not suggesting for a moment that Obama or his staff had any direct connection. I'll leave that to redleg and that crowd.

What I am suggesting is that when you have a leadership that tolerates sloppiness and deception, it sets a tone for the organization.

Fraud should be a crime for politicians as well as business.

I doubt Obama had anything to do with it. Could have been someone trying to make him look good in the run-up to the election, on their own initiative. But it could also have been someone who just isn't very capable and did a half-assed job. Fire 'em, strip their retirement and move on.

Always wondered how unemployment claims can increase without job growth and number could go down. Of course the workers leaving the job market thing also counts.

So, employees in yet another federal department actively working to keep Democrats in office.

Makes sense. Likely, they are thinking of pay raises, pension benefits, superior health care coverage-- not to mention the extravagant parties they regularly throw themselves with taxpayer money. What's a little bit of fraud if it keeps the gravy train on track?

What I am suggesting is that when you have a leadership that tolerates sloppiness and deception, it sets a tone for the organization.

As I've said before, there is not a single document linking Hitler to the Holocaust. He just put people positions of power that would do what he wanted without him telling them. Although, he did tell them through the rhetoric he used in his speeches.
The Puppet did the same thing. He just puts people in charge of regulatory agencies that are more than willing to commit crimes, ignore or make up data, or write regulations that do what he wants done without him having to tell them what to do.
In that light, he did indeed have a direct connection.  He just didn't exercise direct control.

Had it been an investment firm, or an insurance company that had been this incompetent, do you think The Puppet and his obergauliter Holder would simply allow them to be fired? Or would there be a Soviet style show trial, and years in prison for him?

Well he does seem to be trying to keep his campaign promise of fundamentally changing America. Used to be our leaders tried to follow our laws (most of the time), or at least they hid their corruption better.
