I'll look forward to the "Reading Room."
FYI, I'm reading my new copy of A Canticle for Liebowitz; by Walter Miller.
BTW, Admin, I don't need a laptop or a smartphone to read, I do it the old fashioned way.
Your attempt at humor is noted.

Cool- I''m reading a sci-fi book right now, "Ancillary Justice", by Ann Leckie. Pretty cool premise- interstellar human empire run by a cloned ruler with a group mind set in a far, far future with humanity expanded throughout the galaxy. Main prey is other human planets--but hostile aliens come into play, too. Cool ideas about human bodies taken over by AIs to use as soldiers and developing their own personalities and such.....It's a revenge story centered on a surviving AI-controlled soldier that is sole survivor of the AI and its troops- the soldier is the AI, its human mind completely dead, but greatly reduced.

The ''History of Western Maryland'', volumes I &II, just arrived in the mail today. The history of Frederick, Montgomery, Carroll, Washington, Allegheny, and Garrett Counties in 1,545 glorious pages. I came across references from the book in my ancestry search and decided it was a "must have" for those long winter nights. Time to give my Kindle a rest, after I finish my "The Lizard's Bite" Nic Costa mystery, and get back to actually turning some pages amidst the smell of paper.

I just finished "In the Garden of Beasts" by Erik Larson-a fascinating read about pre-war germany, the nazis and american diplomacy.

The smart phone or laptop is what you would need to post about what you're reading while sitting on your reading throne. Anyway, this forum is not to be used as a substitute before your Reading Room is created. You can use The Hangout until then. Please be patient, children.
