Norris has faced the Blue Jays twice this season, who are one of the league's most potent offensive teams, but something is clearly wrong. His command of his fastball wouldn't work against A ball hitters at this point, and as a result, he's getting launched. His stuff isn't otherwise good enough to be effective without command.
I remember something about Norris experiencing some back stiffness for his first spring start, but I didn't see any follow-up (then again, I didn't really look). Give him another start or two, and if he continues to struggle, put him on the DL and find out if there's actually something physically wrong.

Norris isn't making the best case for himself thus far in a free agent year.

I learned subsequently that he left his telephone number for the beat writer and later conducted the interview.

Since it inhibits air flow to the lungs, bronchitis can certainly have an effect on one's stamina. Norris is undoubtedly still somewhat weak, but I'm not sure if that even completely explains away getting rocked by a bunch of AAA hitters.

The local fishwrap (Carroll County Times) quoted Buck, who either spoke to Norris or received a report from him. Norris said his leg strength had not yet returned, and that he expected it back in time for his Wednesday start. This means he will not be back for the Thursday DH - one of those games will be thrown "by the bullpen" and the other by someone promoted for the purpose, according to the same article. McFarland was optioned yesterday or today to bring by Chaz Roe. Kubatko contradicts this report, suggesting either Norris or McFarland could be recalled to start Thursday; teams playing a DH can have a 26 man roster for that day only.

Per Kubatko, Norris was so sick he could not get out of bed. His parents came to take care of him. He is no sure when/where he will pitch again.
It looks like he tried to get back to work before he was recovered.
