Hey, Adam: play, or you're going to the DL. No more of this "day by day" stuff. You're making the team play a man short. Heal, and we'll see you when you have.
After all, who's running the team? Buck or Adam?

I think the decision not to play Jones has been Showalter's. I don't believe Jones is dogging it; he would be in there if given the green light.

I don't think he's dogging it at all. I think he's hurt, but he's so competitive he doesn't want to go on the DL. I like that about the man, but a baseball team needs all 25 men. This is making him either unable to realize that he needs a week or two, or unable to admit that. Maybe that's what you meant by dogging, but I took it to mean malingering, and I do not believe Jones is doing that, at all. I also think Buck understands Jones' importance to the team and does not want to lose him for... another ten days?
But let the man heal. If he does not heal property this will dog him for the rest of the season. Or worsen to where it requires a surgical fix.
EDIT: According to the official site, Jones will start in the opener, so I'd guess he's healed. Just ignore me...

There was an interesting point made on the postgame show (which I typically don't listen to, but for some reason tonight I tuned in) regarding Jones. When you have a guy like Jones who is questionable, the last thing you do is let the other team know. If you're going to play a man short, don't let the other team know you're a man short because it can affect their strategy, such as how they work their bullpen that night, for instance.
I guess it's a moot point now since Jones started in CF in Game 1. I honestly thought he might be DL'd at this point.
