It almost caught me with this: if you don't uncheck a box at the website, the installer you get for version 11.9.900.152 comes with McAfee Security Scan Plus built in. That is, you don't have a checkbox in the installer to decline it. If you don't want the McAfee tool, be sure you uncheck the box at the site.
I no longer use Reader because it's bloatware. Might need to look for a Flash replacement, too.

Im sick and tired of the add ons that google adobe and others try to foist off on you. If you missed a check box you have to spend time getting rid of them. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, a lot of them have changed the check box to an accept or decline option. I guess, trying to make the user think that if they hit decline, the install will not continue.

I'm VERY diligent about checking for those sneaky little boxes before I install anything! So far, I've had good luck in avoiding their little traps.

They've actually been doing this for the last several upgrades. It's not just them, many of software companies are doing the same crap. You should always be careful downloaded anything, but keep an even sharper eye out with updates. Oh and make sure you set your updates to manual so you see this stuff. If you do automatic, you're at their mercy..

I tell my staff at work to watch carefully when they are installing software. There are a lot of times I've found third party software that comes from them not paying attention on an install. That is why a lot of software makers do it that way. They try to slip it in there on a next-next-finish basis hoping the consumer doesn't notice.
