Per Dan Patrick on NBC Radio.
It's not a surprise that USC would want an NFL coach for its next hire, so I think at this point they're just floating names out there. Maybe the reasoning is that since Jim Harbaugh jumped back to the college ranks, brother John would do the same. The difference is, Jim played at Michigan while John has no ties to USC. Probably nothing more than premature speculation.
It isn't the first time that John was sought after by college programs. Aside from USC, Texas and Michigan were both reported to be interested in him in 2013 shortly after the Ravens won the Super Bowl.

I don't think he's going anywhere, unless he and Bisciotti aren't getting along. It seems unlikely that a college program could offer him as much salary as any NFL club. So there would almost have to be some other reason, such as a connection, a desire to try the college level, or a fear that his Ravens days were coming to an end. I don't think any of those are high probabilities at this point.
He's probably relieved to know he's got a landing spot if he can't right the ship here in the next year or two, but there are people who need to be fired ahead of John. Starting with whoever thought the Ravens had talent on defense.

The Michigan job might be open again soon. Brother Jim is probably ready to shoot himself after what happened today against Michigan State.

Losing the game in the last 10 seconds of the game because the punter mishandled the ball was sorrowful for the Wolverines, but Jim Harbaugh was not the punter. The punter, BTW, had a darn good reputation prior to the foul-up. The decision to punt was the best choice IMHO. The result was a case of "that's how the cookie crumbles" sometimes.
