Definitely too cold & wet for me to attend. No better this weekend, either. Glad to see the Os taking some BBs.

I gave my tickets to my nephew. I'm getting too old for cold.

With today's win over the Rays, the Orioles are now 5-0 and are the only unbeaten team remaining in baseball. I wonder where the magic number for clinching stands right now.

Great defense and some timely bombs today helped ruin Boston's home opener. Maybe it's me, but it seems like the Oriole hitters have been more patient at the plate in the early going. They failed to cash in on Rickard's leadoff double, but at least they worked David Price deep into some counts. Then they worked Craig Kimbrell for two walks in the ninth to set up Chris Davis's moon shot. Last year they'd have been flailing at pitches in the dirt, which afforded opposing pitchers the luxury of never having to throw an actual strike.
I know this streak can't go on indefinitely, but it's certainly enjoyable right now.

Last year their lack of plate discipline was frustrating. Certainly sluggers are going to strike out a lot, but let's strike out swinging at actual strikes!

Through the first seven games, the Orioles have converted 47 percent of all walks and HBPs into runs. That number is obviously unsustainable, but right now it's resulting in more two and three-run homers rather than just solo shots. I liked Wieters' at-bat tonight in particular. He got two quick strikes on him, then, rather than swinging from his heels, he simply tried to make contact and drove in two runs with a single. The key to hitting with two strikes is to shorten the swing and simply try and put the ball in play.
