Interesting, trading a pitcher for a position player, when one considers the starting rotation, except for Tillman, is either bad, inconsistent, or can't go deep.

Manny will start his suspension. Decided not to appeal. According to the Sun, there is informal negotiations that take place between the team & the league prior to appeals, and it did not look like Manny's was going to be reduced, so better to get it out of the way than drag it out.

What I don't understand is how Ventura's penalty got reduced without him appealing it. Somehow his agent and the union did that. So he only looses one start; he should have, after all his misbehavior, lost at least two. If he throws at someone in the future it ought to cost him 25 games.
