It seems like teams are abusing this, asking for crew chief challenges as a way to avoid the possibility of losing their challenge should it fail. I don't know how to fix it because the obvious choice - there are no crew chief challenges - seems unnecessarily restrictive. Maybe toss a few managers who ask for crew chief challenges?

The trouble with the current system is that it's set a precedent for virtually unlimited challenges after the seventh inning, oftentimes if there's nothing from the video to suggest replay. Even if a team is out of challenges at that point, it's practically guaranteed that the umpiring crew will look at the play.
If baseball is going to continue with replay, then I think they need to adopt a model similar to the NFL, where in the last two minutes of each half, all plays are subject to review from upstairs, not at the behest of the coach. There should also be a replay crew assigned to every game, rather than one for all games back in New York as is currently the case.
