The White Sox sent Sale home after he asked not to wear throwback uniforms for his start because they were uncomfortable. When the front office would not relent, he grabbed scissors and cut up either one, or all, of the uniforms (accounts vary). There were also strong words exchanged with the front office personnel.
Heard during the O's broadcast.

Those were retro uniforms from the Bill Veeck-era of 1976, which were pretty hideous, to say the least.
There have been rumors of Sale being traded and this might be his way of trying to speed up the process. I doubt seriously if he goes anywhere, however, since he's under team control through 2019 at a very reasonable price for a front-line pitcher. Things aren't going well after a promising start on the South Side, so you have to wonder if tempers are beginning to get a bit short. The White Sox will probably try and cut bait on any number of players, but I'd be shocked if Sale went anywhere.

I would certainly expect that a key design goal in a uniform, especially one to be worn by an elite professional, would be comfort. Those guys need freedom of movement. If his problem was with the esthetics, well... just look at what Rooney makes the Steelers wear once or twice a year.

Five day suspension by the team. Which, for a pitcher, is really a one day suspension.
