It's too bad because Zach was one of those classic overachiever types--undrafted free agent to starter--and he was likely looking at a handsome pay raise, to boot. I guess the silver lining is doctors were able to discover the condition before it could really compound and cause him health issues down the road. I think the Ravens will likely offer him a position somewhere in the organization. He won't make the type of money he was previously in line for, but at least he'll be able to roll out of bed in the morning when he reaches his 40s and 50s.
The timing could not have been worse for the Ravens, however, who now have yet another position of need to fill this offseason. Kamalei Correa, who has been a colossal disappointment thus far, has been mentioned as a possible replacement, but he demonstrated none of the requisite instincts for the weakside position. Couple the loss of their leading tackler with the likely departure of Brandon Williams, and the Ravens' wish list is now even longer. They have a lot of work to do this offseason.

Yeah, it doesn't look like they're going to be a very good team in '17. Maybe not in '18, either.

Yeah, it doesn't look like they're going to be a very good team in '17. Maybe not in '18, either. There's no doubt they are in dire need of playmakers. The common thread running between the four remaining teams in the NFL postseason is they all possess the necessary playmakers.
