No, RJ, you're wrong. Stats show that about 12.5% of African-Americans use illicit drugs. However, almost 30% of persons arrested for drug offenses are African-American, and about a third of people incarcerated for drug offenses are African-American. It's not committing more crime, it's a higher arrest and incarceration rate. There are few is any arrested under some sort of Baltiimore City criminal code. Baltimore City -- and every other county -- follows State law. In fact, I don't think the city even has a criminal code. And I'm glad to see you admit that rednecks are clueless and Republicans deplorable. Baltimore's city laws can be found here: legislativereference.baltimorecity.gov/city-codesThe City has its own city laws and ordinances that go beyond state law. Most cities do. It was a Baltimore-specific knife ordinance that put Freddy Gray in the back of that police van. Come on, man. This was part of the news story around Gray: nypost.com/2015/05/29/the-fuzzy-law-behind-baltimores-agony/Educate yourself about the "oppression" you're claiming, or you will look like a fool. Eric Garner is another prime example. He got arrested because an NYC specific tax law created a lucrative black market for single cigarettes. As for drug offenses, it's not the end user that ends up in the most trouble. Its the manufacturer and dealer, and for good reason. 99%+ of federal drug crime prisoners are in for manufacturing and/or trafficking. So, don't tell me about who uses the stuff, tell me about who sells it. The users mostly aren't going to prison. Likewise, there's a reason the penalties are stiffer for heroin than weed. So, be prepared to tell me who uses what before you tell me its racist. Otherwise, you're comparing apples and oranges and it just looks like you're hiding important information. And blacks DO commit crimes at a much higher rate than other races. Not all crimes are drug related. However, someone who gets arrested for, say, retail theft is going to be searched incident to arrest, and if the police find drugs on them, that charge will be added.

I can agree with you on Michael Brown... but had George Zimmerman stayed in his vehicle... like the dispatcher told him to do... Trayvon Martin might still be alive today... (regardless of whether he was a good guy or a bad guy)... Zimmerman got away with murder in that one... (manslaughter at the least, which is what he should have been charged with, not murder)... People like Zimmerman are why people like Colin Kaepernick sat... Trayvon Martin was shot while he was sitting on George Zimmerman, and trying to pound his face into the dirt. It honestly doesn’t matter all that much how they got there. Once they were, Zimmerman reasonably believed his life to be in danger, and fired in self defense. Had Martin not initiated the “ground and pound” attack, he might be alive today, OR you might have an actual manslaughter case against Zimmerman. As it stands, Zimmerman was the victim. Not Martin. But, EVEN IF you want to argue Zimmerman was overzealous, he was a neighborhood watch person, not a public official, and he is Latino. The idea that he somehow represents “oppression” is ridiculous. And Zimmerman was not "on duty" when he encountered Martin... and like I said, if he had stayed in his vehicle like the dispatcher told him to do, he wouldn't have been in the position he was with Martin... he wouldn't have even seen him again that night... George Zimmerman did not have to kill Trayvon Martin...

Martin did not attack Zimmerman because of race... Martin attacked Zimmerman because he thought Zimmerman was following him and was going to attack him... and he was... And I'm surprised that it made the news anyway... single Blacks are killed every day in the U.S... I think the reason here was a case of over zealous "law enforcement" resulting in a death... after being told NOT to pursue Martin... ...

And if Trayvon Martin hadn't sat on Zimmerman and tried to beat him to death, Zimmerman wouldn't have had to kill him. At that point, Zimmerman felt his life was in jeopardy and simply defended himself. That's the point where Martin sealed his own fate. This has been the conclusion of EVERYONE who investigated this incident, including the DOJ.

He was still a citizen, exercising his right to walk in his neighborhood, and was attacked for it. Your "logic" says that cops, if they are not 'on duty', should ignore any crime or suspicious behavior they might see, because it might result in confrontation if they don't. Martin didn't have to attack Zimmerman. The fact that Zimmerman is something of a dirtbag himself is irrelevant. He wasn't confronting Martin, he was simply following him. It was Martin that initiated the confrontation, and attacked Zimmerman. He committed suicide, because he attacked an armed individual, with no provocation.

No, he attacked Zimmerman because he was 'following' him, and he didn't like that. He had no reason to believe Z was going to attack him. It only made the "news" because the Left saw a chance to further inflame racial divisions, and thought they could gain political advantage from it. The fact that Zimmerman was actually hispanic threw a wrench in the situation, until they came up with the idiocy of "white hispanics". No, the reason here is because the fake news saw a chance to hold a street thug up as some sort of victim, thinking they could not only send a "white hispanic" to jail, but scream racism. One of the problems they ran into was that they couldn't hide the facts any more, the way they have for decades.

I am, and have been, the captain of my neighborhood watch for over 20 years... in fact, in this case, Zimmerman was returning to the complex from another location...

When a private citizen sees something wrong, they should call it in to the proper authorities and 99% of the tie they will be told the same thing Zimmerman was told... watch, but DON'T involve yourself... many private citizens have been killed when getting themselves involved... in this case Zimmerman was armed and Martin was not... Martin was just going to whip his ass for following him... and dies for it...

In Sanford, FL, if someone is following you, you have every reason to think they might be going to attack you... and yes, I have been there... I went to Sanford and talked with a number of people in the community a couple of weeks after Martin was killed... ALL of them told me Martin was murdered... From January 1, 2011, through February 26, 2012, police were called to The Retreat at Twin Lakes 402 times.... during the months leading up to the February 26, 2012 shooting, Zimmerman called the police several times to report people he believed to be suspicious... Zimmerman did not pursue any of those suspicious persons... Zimmerman has been in trouble with the law on at least 7 times... 2 prior to the Martin incident... and at least 5 since... all because of his "over-aggressive" behavior...

He was doing exactly what he was told to do. Watch him. Z was attacked, and Martin was trying to kill him by pounding his head into the ground. He had no reason to attack Z, he was simply doing what he had always done when he didn't like something: attack it.
