No, RJ. This is more of your continued unthinking partisanship. The GOP opposed Obama -- starting on election night before the votes were even counted -- because he was a Democrat. Period. They spent 8 years in Congress opposing anything and everything Obama even thought about proposing. If he would have proposed unlimited access to machine guns, they would have opposed it. It was opposition to the man, regardless of his policies. Sorry you can't see that . . . or just refuse to see it. And Trump opposes Putin? Again, what world are you living in? If he opposed Putin, he'd be imposing the sanctions authorized by Congress. I asked earlier, I wonder what Putin and the Russians have on him that he refuses to act against them? Hope you can return to the real work quickly. Hope you can learn to think critically some day. But I doubt that will ever happen. Look, we all know you think everything Obama did, from Obamacare to turning a blind eye to Russians meddling in the 2016 election was all perfect. But you're projecting your own raging partisanship on me and everyone else, to the point where you think the GOP secretly supports unlimited access to machine guns. You've reduced yourself to a caricature of a liberal. You drank deep the Kool Aid.

And you're wrong, as usual, RJ. I don't think Obama was perfect. I know Trump isn't perfect. But you started this about opposition to the President. In fact, Republican opposition to Obama started on election night 2008 with a meeting of seven prominent Republicans to start plotting how to oppose him. Opposition continued to the next 8 years, opposition to everything and anything that Obama did or proposed.
I don't think anyone -- at least anyone sane -- supports unlimited access to machine guns. I used that to make a point. Sorry you don't understand the subtleties of the English language.
My point is that, though Democrats may oppose Trump because of who he is, that's just what the Republicans did for 8 years -- opposed Obama because of who he was, no what he proposed. It wasn't about policy, it was about personality.
Again, sorry you can't see the truth. But that's part of your continued unthinking partisanship.

I used that to make a point. Sorry you don't understand the subtleties of the English language. As usual, your point was only to reveal how absurd and ridiculous you are. This is demonstrably not true. Time and again, Republicans explained why they were opposed to Obama policies, and based those explanations in terms of economics or the law. And they proposed alternatives to solve perceived problems. Democrats almost exclusively use "because Trump!" as their reasoning to oppose a policy. And their preferred course of action is to "DO SOMETHING"! without ever explaining what that something ought to be.

Obviously you're content to wallow in your unthinking partisanship, RJ, and ignore facts. Nothing I can do about that except pray that some day, some how, you see the light. Since you show no inclination to change, to look for the truth, and to continue to spread your unthinking partisan lies, I see no need to continue in this thread.

And you continue to be an exemplar of the point I just made. Just as this thread is, and most of the others you've started. You want Trump to "DO SOMETHING!" about the Russians. And the school shooting. And immigration. But then when he proposes something, you oppose it. Just like every other Democrat. This is ridiculous and stupid.

Wrong again, RJ, as usual. Mr. Trump has proposed doing something about bump stocks. Wonderful. Should have happened months ago after Las Vegas, but I'll take it now. And he's proposing to strengthen background checks. Good step in a good direction.
What did Obama propose that Republicans ever agreed with? (Hint: since Republican opposition started before the votes were even counted and continued for 8 years, nothing).
By the way, must be nice to be able to sit at work and post all day.

Obama proposed and Republicans supported the Sequester. And for that they were roundly condemned. The media have been denouncing Republicans for decades. If you're going to go around calling them deplorable, and throwing them under the bus when they support your ideas, its no wonder they are reluctant about supporting your ideas even when you agree with them. He also got bipartisan support for his education initiatives, like the Every Studen Succeeds Act. And by the way, your incessant need to maske this about what I may or may not be doing while posting here is vile. I know you're not bright enough to successfully defend your ignorant nonsense, but engaging in petty shut-uppery only proves how worthless and idiotic your positions are. It doesn't help you.

What a loser you are.

Again, you prove you lack the intelligence to make your point so you go personal. Your stuff is nonsense, and even you know it. To the point where you lack sufficent confidence in it to let it stand without trying to shut me up with nonsensical asides about whether or not I'm at work. Argue your point, and have the courage to let me make mine. Stop being such a pathetic coward. Left wing shut-uppery is one of the main causes of Trump. Outside of your tiny little echo chamber the rest of the country is so tired of leftist clap trap they elected Trump to be a giant middle finger to you and people like you. The more you hate him, the more most of us feed on your impotent rage.

You're talking about the President Trump, RJ, right? The guy who has trouble crossing the 40% favorability line? He's giving the finger to the rest of us? Right. More of your unthinking partisan crap.
If you've been reading the news lately -- and I'm sure that's a big "If" -- you'll know that Democrats have been winning most elections lately. Look for Democratic control of Congress in 2019. But, I'm sure, with your unthinking partisan mindset, you can't comprehend that.
Such a pathetic little person.

Or is that just more fake news spin? And, since he's polling higher than The Puppet did at this point in his regime, and since Trump faces daily, constant ridicule, lies, and half truths, and the Puppet got nothing but fawning sycophancy, I'd say he's doing a far better job than The Puppet did. If the fake news was even half way reliable, he'd be in the 60's or 70's, but since they refuse to report on anything favorably for Trump, and lie about everything they can think of, of course he's not higher. We'll see how well their Socialist, anti American rhetoric plays, but I wouldn't count your commissars before they are shooting people.

While it is well and good to give these people a voice, and to let them grieve, laws need to be based in facts and reason, not the emotional appeals to "DO SOMETHING!" for the sake of doing something.

Right, RJ. It's better to advocate doing nothing but expanding gun use, since nothing will work anyway. That's what you continue to post. Might as well just sit back and wait for the next school massacre.

Might as well just sit back and wait for the next school massacre. You had your chance to propose something that might have addressed this, and every idea you put up you either admitted was unrealistic, ineffective or you opposed. I've suggested tightening up reporting to the background check database. The professionals had dozens of opportunities to stop Cruz, and failed. People should be held accountable. In other words, when given an opportunity to make a suggestion, you came up empty, and I didn't. As far as who wants to do something about this, you've got it backwards. You're just fine with moree massacres. They're an opportunity to demonize your enemies, and that's more important to you than doing something effective. On the other hand, I'm actually offering up a way to at least start to address the problem. Shrieking "DO SOMETHING!" is what children do.

As has been said several times, reading is fundamental. Please learn to read and comprehend. You still have problems.
I listed several suggestions. I clearly noted that 2 were probably not workable, but I presented them for the sake of discussion. I made no comment about other suggestions, one of which involved background checks.
You want to tighten up the database. Fine. I think we need to overhaul the process. You continue to say nothing can be done.
You offer up 1 minor suggestion and shoot down everything else. You continue to show your unthinking partisanship, you adherence to NRA talking points, and yell "NOTHING CAN BE DONE!!!" You're the one content with the status quo and with more and more school shootings.
Again, please learn to read and comprehend. Might save you a lot of embarassment in the future (but I doubt it).

If you're going to lie, do it on another message board where its not so easy to find your original quote, which was: "Note that listed several items and clearly stated that I endorse none of them." Now I know what "I endorse none of them" means. If you do not, I suggest you learn to write in a way that effectively expresses what you mean before accusing other people of illiteracy.

Right, RJ. It's better to advocate doing nothing but expanding gun use, since nothing will work anyway. That's what you continue to post. Might as well just sit back and wait for the next school massacre. Yes, expanded access to firearms is one of the ways to stop school shootings. If the perps know that they will probably die before creating the chaos they want, they will find another target. If all, or most of the teachers and administrators, even the janitors are armed, the chance of some nutjob Leftist being able to kill indiscriminately for 10, 15, 20 minutes is almost nonexistent. And before you come back with the pablum about "some crazy teacher shooting students", even then, someone else being armed could stop them. The insanity of having schools as prime targets, because there are no firearms anywhere close caused the massacre. Not the firearm, the lack of them. Until you Leftists insist on banning violent movies, violent video games, and Communist propaganda disguised as "learning", don't even mention "gun control".

Actually, RJ, my original quote was: "There are many possible suggestions/solutions to this issue. I'll list several. Note that I take no position on any of these -- I list them for discussion, probably with some overlap of what's been discussed already."' I posted that after another of your "nothing will work, so nothing can be done" unthinking partisan statements. As I said, I took no position (except on 2 suggestions that I think are unworkable) so that there could be some honest discussion. Again, you shoot down everything except strengthening background checks (a good start).
Guess I should have known better than to expect you or anyone on the right to engage in any sort of honest, open discussion about this issue. Or any issue. You follow your talking points and say nothing can be done. You're content with the status quo. Like Trump, you want to take the county backwards. With that attitude, nothing can or will ever be done to at least lessen gun violence in this country.

I strongly suggest looking up the definition of what you're about to write before hitting "create post." As far as taking the country backwards, at least in terms of gun violence, it would be a wonderful thing to get back to 1950s levels of school shootings, don't you think? Or am I right when I suspect you're all about demonizing the NRA, and are happy for these mass shootings that make it easy to take away self-defense rights?

Thank you again for misstating my position. Reread the quote above -- you can read, can't you? I clearly stated that I was not taking a position for or against any of the things I listed to hopefully generate discussion. Of course, you oppose discussion other than to shoot down everything and anything proposed and maintain the status quo, proving, once again, that you're content to let the school shooting continue unabated.

Meanwhile, back to the original intent of this thread.
Now that President Trump has finally admitted to Russian involvement in the last election, what should he do (or order to be done) to prevent problems in the coming election?
And why does he refuse to impose the sanctions that Congress passed? What's he afraid of?
