Most "normal" people caught red handed would have been too ashamed to even try and get their job back but not union trash.
I'm very familiar with Detroit... spent quite a bit of time there... especially when Coleman Young was mayor... I was actually on TV with President Jimmy Carter there in 1979 from Cobo Hall in downtown Detroit... Damn son, aren't you special?

How about unions starting their OWN companies and pay their goons whatever they like. These companies are NOT the unions property to dictate rules, regs and pay. Can I go to a union goons house and demand what I want to do with their property? 95%, maybe more, of these "union goons" are the workers themselves... the union has very few full time paid employees... my former union which covers 9 Southern states likely has less than 50 total full time paid employees... in state offices and in Atlanta... (I can get you an exact number if you want it)... my state of Mississippi had only 1 full time employee for the 40+ years that I was active... so, the people you are attacking, for the most part... are the represented employees... Me thinks that 95% of the people who complain so much about unions... don't know a hell of a lot about unions... Fine, do these 95% goons OWN the company or just work there? I once worked for the state, I did NOT join the union. Whats next, the military being unionized?

Can I go to a union goons house and demand what I want to do with their property? The Constitution guarantees the right of free association. That includes workers. It's true that some unions have destroyed the corporations they organized against... then they lost their jobs. The issue is when they force people to associate who don't want to. It does NOT include the right for a bunch of thugs to demand certain rights of employers and companies. If they want something, start their own company and do as they wish. Reply Quick Reply

Because they KNOW it wouldn't work and would destroy the mission? No, it's because the government owns you when you're in the military... you are told what to do and you have no choice... or input... even if the instructions are bad... and you can't just quit and look for another job till your tour is finished...

Outright lies, Redleg... that $$$ is not dues $$$... I don't care what these right wingers say... it is COPE $$$... and it is used only for things like educating the membership and the public... providing them with accurate information so they can make an informed decision... and to get out the vote... etc... Then why does it all go to Democrats? And money is fungible. If they are "using COPE money" then they have more money to use for other politiking.

Republican majorities in the state House and Senate... all state elected officials, save one, are Republicans... and want to stay there... Democrats support 97% of our wants and needs a a labor union... what else would you suggest?... So, labor unions want Socialism, racism, sexism, homophobia, and shari'a law? That's what the Democrats stand for these days. Besides, the 'leadership' might support the Dems, but the rank and file may not. That means the 'leadership' the workers money to support people the workers don't want.

As long as they avoid undertaking political agendas irrelevant to the job and don't exist to merely wield power, I support private sector unions. Unions should provide value to the employee in such a way that workers will want to join them voluntarily and not by force. I'm not as much in favor with public sector unions because conflicts between the union and their members' employer ultimately impacts the tax paying citizens.

Another way to say it is that unions buy the politicians who they then get to negotiate with, and as you said the taxpayers (current, and future) get left paying the bill.
