Ahhh... I thought this thread was going to be about those Heady Days a couple weeks ago, when the Democrats stood firm to prevent the hostage taking terrorists from delaying Obamacare for a year. And now, just a few weeks on, more and more 'crats realize you can't fine people for not using a website that doesn't work.

The problem is the shutdown is going to be a distant memory on election day, and Obamacare won't be.

Obama still has quite a way to get to the poll numbers of Dubya who was at 39% at this point in his second term and would sink to 27% when he left office.

Boy you guys can go on and on and on with nothing but critiques with absolutely no mention of solutions, future plans or nothing. No introspection or talk of a party to further your conservative ideas. you virtually add nothing to the conversation. It would add a lot more to your cause if you actually had a president and more senators and representatives on your side but it seems like you guys are losing more elections and you are reduced just screaming on chat rooms. that's not good

Somehow you guys then surmise ......lol The 7 to 16 million people who look to be getting cancellation notices have nothing to do with the launch of 404care.gov. Nor do the markedly higher premiums and deductibles that are on the exchanges. Not even the number of new enrollees into Medicaid.

The trouble is, what the GOP gained from the shutdown - nothing - would have been worth trading for to get a couple of extra weeks of non stop media coverage of the mega flop that is the launch of Obamacare. I'm not sure they got nothing. They did did make a very big deal about delaying this for a year - which caused the Democrats to accuse them of being hostage takers. Now that the Democrats are starting to adopt that position, though, they're going to look very small and petty. One of the problems that the GOP has is getting the media to pay any attention to them. Throwing a temper tantrum does get the media's attention though. When they've got that attention, they've got an avenue to get their message out. Of course, people do need to pay close attention. After all, the main clip the media played of Ted Cruz' speech was when he read Green Eggs & Ham.

The failure of 404Care.gov and 1-800-F1U-CKYO is masking the even bigger failures of people losing coverage, and being forced to purchase MUCH more expensive coverage, and of course the BIG LIE: "If you like your plan/doctor, you can keep them." That's an even bigger mess than the non-functioning website.

True-but barry has proven himself more than capable of reaching those kinds of numbers......and dragging hellary along with him. The dems ran away from barry in '10 like he was a herpes blister-and that's when he was "popular". There's an extremely strong anti-incumbent mood that should make '14 very interesting.

I guess you've discovered by now that K. Sibelius has fallen on her sword for the President... Some of the Democrat politicians who are up for election are now calling for a delay of the individual mandate. Medicaid enrollment is another issue, and has noting to do with the ACA. You've asked for solutions. I have one: repeal the ACA. IMHO the ACA (and all its regulations and changes since it became law) was originally designed to help bring about a single-payer system (i.e., socialized medicine). The ACA supporters have cleverly crafted the law to make sure the insurance companies will drop insureds because their products don't meet the changing requirements of the law (and druthers of the President). Just look at the long list of waivers granted so far. And don't forget the fact that those "grandfathered" to keep their current plans have been cleverly "ungrandfathered" (except, of course, for the unions) because of the "law" that insurers modify their plans to meet ACA requirements. That is, insureds can keep their plans--except they can't if those plans don't conform to the ACA requirements, choke, choke... It is absolutely asinine that the ACA requires a single man to pay to be covered for pregnancy. IMHO we certainly have a bunch of lying, conniving politicians and lackeys in D.C.

I've seen polls where President Unexpectedly is at 42%. That really isn't a long way from 39%. In fact, in most polls, that would be within the margin of error.

Also dubya had the media against him I am sure his numbers would have been higher with the media in his pocket. If they only polled politics wonks then I am sure the numbers would be different again. Polls only tell what the pollster wants to tell.
