This is been a mighty weird off-season. If the O's do poorly this year I think the fans might finally have an open revolt.

I suspect that most fans are waiting for Peter Angelos to die and hoping the next owner is better. He'd almost have to be. With any luck at all, that estate will be so illiquid that they have to sell the club to make the tax obligations, and someone else will buy it. I'd almost rather the team moved to another city, much as I'd miss them, if it meant the organization could reclaim its commitment to winning. Angelos has utterly ignored that.

I did like the Ryan Webb signing, but otherwise the Orioles are not acting like a team that is trying to build on what is actually a fairly strong nucleus. An offseason of primarily dumpster diving for other people's discards isn't going to cut it in the American League East.

You don't think the boy will inherit it? I remember reading that John was pretty heavily involved in front office matters.

You don't think the boy will inherit it? I remember reading that John was pretty heavily involved in front office matters. There are two Angelos children. Last I heard, one was involved with the front office, the other with the Peter Angelos law firm. But unless their Dad has some reason to disinherit them, I'd guess they'll split the club. Even if they don't, it is worth nearly a billion dollars at this point, and they gotta pay taxes on anything over $5MM.

John has his tentacles into the club far deeper than I thought.

That article reads like a publicity puff piece.

That article reads like a publicity puff piece. Since it's wikipedia, I don't doubt for a minute that John himself submitted it.
