I think the treatment of the sick man's family members in Dallas by the CDC and others is just appalling. How were they treated? Do you have a link? I am curious, and to lazy to google it.

www.cnn.com/2014/10/03/health/ebola-us/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
They turned away a crew sent to clean the apartment; the dirty sheets from the sick patient are still in there. Show the people some common decency and help them.

I found this linkSounds like a cluster F to me. There is more in the article. Anybody who thinks the US is prepared for an epidemic is delusional.

It also sounds like Duncan is a piece of work, or an idiot. He has intentionally (in my opinion) brought Ebola to the US, and seems to have not cared if he spread it far and wide.

The US is fighting a war with a group that uses unsymmetrical warfare. Our nation's borders are porous.
Substitute one suicide bomber with an infected jihadist, and you have the very definition of a terriorist attack.
Biological warfare has been used before.

A DC hospital confirmed Friday it is monitoring a patient showing symptoms that could be associated with Ebola. Read More at: www.foxbaltimore.com/Ebola Virus Infection Ebola is a rare but deadly virus that causes bleeding inside and outside the body. As the virus spreads through the body, it damages the immune system and organs. Ultimately, it causes levels of blood-clotting cells to drop. This leads to severe, uncontrollable bleeding. The disease, also known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever or Ebola virus, kills up to 90% of people who are infected. What Are the Symptoms of Ebola? Early on, Ebola can feel like the flu or other illnesses. Symptoms show up 2 to 21 days after infection and usually include: High fever Headache Joint and muscle aches Sore throat Weakness Stomach pain Lack of appetite As the disease gets worse, it causes bleeding inside the body, as well as from the eyes, ears, and nose. Some people will vomit or cough up blood, have bloody diarrhea, and get a rash. www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/ebola-fever-virus-infection

Of course... but how do you enforce it? Making a rule or a law or a regulation that cannot be enforced is a waste of time. It is easy to enforce, don't have any flights from africa to the US, and check passport records as to where someone has been before letting them in. You can also setup quarantine camps for those exposed. So yes it can be enforce, will it? No I agree that it is unlikely with our president that there is the will to enforce it. So expect some americans to die. The guy in Dallas came from Brussels. His temperature was taken before leaving Liberia and he was not indicating for a fever. His administrative form, admittedly a process with very little value, indicated he had not been with anyone having Ebola. He met all the requirements for international travel. Setting up quarantine camps "for those exposed" is simply not practical. This guy likely got off the aircraft in DFW without a fever. As far as anyone would have been able to tell, he did not have Ebola. Are you suggesting quarantine camps for everyone flying into the US from an international site? These camps do not exist today, so where are you going to build them and how will you fund them?

My point is only that by the time Ebola is identified, the person is contagious and may have been sharing his/her special little package with hundreds of folks. This is the perfect terror weapon, as folks can come in to any of the western nations with legitimate passports and wreak havoc before anyone is aware. What we should be working on is; a rapid test to identify carriers before they become contagious a vaccine for world-wide distribution a cure.

Fully agree, this thing starts out acting like the simple flu, then your body just explodes from the inside, out

If we had a ban on travel from Liberia his passport would show that he had been in Liberia, all the rest doesn't matter. It may not be practical but it should be necessary, if this gets away from us then I would expect a lot of screaming and yelling about why this wasn't done. Dogs are quarantined when going to England (or used to be) I don't see why we can't do it here. Hey lets combine the camps for the illegals in Texas with incoming people from Ebola countries (even if they traveled through other countries before coming here). No not all international travel, just travel within the past 20 days from an Ebola country, i.e. check the passport. Tent cities in the Texas desert would work. Fund them by printing more money like everything else that is done by our government.

well no matter what they do now in travel , the damage is already done. The alien eggs are everywhere There can always be more. So I would say that it is not too late yet. And think of the added benefit, if it became known that we were housing Ebola quarantine people with those illegal children it would probably nip that problem in the bud real quick.

I agree ebola is a concern. Do some of you realize that when enrolling in school as homeless a student is not required to show a birth certificate or shot record? The same thing applies to those children crossing the border. As a result those childhood illnesses that were deadly are making a return.

I think the treatment of the sick man's family members in Dallas by the CDC and others is just appalling. How so? They turned away the cleaning crew at least once. As of this morning, their apartment has been cleaned and if they are demonstrating symptoms in the next week, they are free to go out.

BE I have to agree. He did lie on his entry form apparently that he had not been in Africa on his entry to New York. The nurse failed to communicate to the Doctor on his first hospital visit that he had been in Africa (he didn't lie that time)
This is a screw up not a sinister plot of some kind. This is a learning experience for all, in a way it was good it happened now with only one guy not 10 or 20 as might have happened. People will be more careful now as the nurse will get yelled at, at least.
