Well, obviously you didn't read that article either... Since the 2004 election, activist lawyers with ties to the Republican Party and its presidential campaigns, Republican legislators, and even the Supreme Court -- in a largely unnoticed ruling in 2006 -- have been aggressively regulating most aspects of the voting process. Collectively, these efforts are undoing the gains of the civil rights era that brought voting rights to minorities and the poor, groups that tend to support Democrats. It has nothing to do with illegals, felons, or the dead... That's because it's a lie. Requiring ID to vote is not 'depriving' anyone of their vote. You have to have an ID to board an aircraft, buy alcohol, even to enter a government building. You have to have a complete background check to buy a firearm. Why shouldn't one have to show an ID to vote? This Democrat myth is founded in the party's fundamentally racist spirit. See, the Democrats think that minorities aren't bright enough to figure out how to obtain an ID.

No, if you'll read, you'll find that the Democrats filed suit to keep the state of Florida from purging the voter rolls withing 90 days of an election... because there were eligible voters names on the lists to be purged... So, those eligible voters can re-register if they are wrongfully dumped. The Dems wanted to keep all the illegal and dead voters on the rolls, because that's the only way they can win elections. Why have to re-register when you didn't un-register?... and how do you do that when you don't know you are no longer registered until you get to your poling place and want to vote?... too late to re-register then...

Like "they" shut down the government when The Puppet refused to sign necessary legislation? Maybe those DMV's were superfluous, didn't serve enough customers to make it worth keeping them open, like the Post Office is doing to offices all over the country.

No, that is not the basis of the complaint... the basis for the complaint is because eligible voter's names are on such lists when they shouldn't be... which causes either that eligible voter not to be able to vote... or jump through hoops to do so... remember Florida removing hundreds of eligible names in 2000?... (via a Texas group)... or had you forgot about that?... and Bush won by just over 500 votes...

If you don't know, then you haven't been paying attention. James Carville once called my home state 'Philadelphia in the East, Pittsburgh in the West, and Alabama in the middle.' He didn't say that because Central PA is full of Democrats. Rural Alabama is overwhelmingly Republican. There are no Democrats there to disenfranchise.

Just like in most states, most eligible voters are congregated in 1 or 2 densely populated areas. Why should the state leave open, and pay for, a DMV that may only have 10-15 customers a week? The lights still have to stay on, and the workers paid, and it's a losing proposition for the state. And is the DMV the only place in AL for voters to register?

Or get an ID? I bet it's not too much trouble for them to drive to get an ID to register for welfare. Or medicaid. Or food stamps.

The bigger question is why can't this be done on-line? The initial drivers license probably needs to be done in person. But renewals ought to be, 'take a selfie and email it to us with your fee. You can expect your new license in the mail in 4-6 weeks.' Someone at DMV would review the photos to make sure they resemble the previous one, and that would be it.

And your brother, the pastor, in Gilbertown AL, why doesn't he go here, in Butler, or here, in Butler, or here, in Chatom? So much for claiming they have to drive hundreds of miles [probably uphill both ways]...
