So you think most eligible voters in Alabama live within 10 miles of Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery or Mobile?... my nephew, who lives in Evergreen, AL, is 82 miles from Montgomery... and 94 miles from Mobile... at least a 3-hour drive round trip to and from either... Of course it you lived in some place like Dothan... it would be a 107 mile drive to Montgomery... or a 196 mile drive to Mobile... (most of that drive would be in Florida)... one way... Or maybe my brother... who pastors a church in Gilbertown, AL... 152 miles from Montgomery... and 94 miles from Mobile... each way... So much for 10-20 miles from those DMV locations... Yes, they do. Just like in most states, most eligible voters are congregated in 1 or 2 densely populated areas. Why should the state leave open, and pay for, a DMV that may only have 10-15 customers a week? The lights still have to stay on, and the workers paid, and it's a losing proposition for the state. And is the DMV the only place in AL for voters to register? 2.2 million people live in the metropolitan areas of Huntsville, Birmingham, Montgomery, and Mobile... out of a state population of almost 5 million... not quite most... And no, the DMV isn't the only place... but the Republicans attack where they can... it's better for them than not attacking at all... nevertheless, how'd you like to drive a couple of hundred miles just to get your driver's licenses renewed?... (and pic info updated)?...

And if they are taking their spouse... who does not drive... or a relative who does not drive... just for a voter ID card... it would be even worse... heck, they'd have to take off work to go... Wahhh. So, they would have to take off work. I spent 2 years in a country where voting would get you killed. And you are complaining because someone might have to take a day off of work to register? Or get an ID? I bet it's not too much trouble for them to drive to get an ID to register for welfare. Or medicaid. Or food stamps.Damn straight... this is the United States... not some foreign country where you "spent 2 years"... go back there and live if you want to compare it to the U.S. and like it better... And if Republicans get their way disenfranchising voters, they won't have to worry about signing up for those other things you mention... they'll eliminate them... (none of which have I ever received)...

And is the DMV the only place in AL for voters to register? The bigger question is why can't this be done on-line? The initial drivers license probably needs to be done in person. But renewals ought to be, 'take a selfie and email it to us with your fee. You can expect your new license in the mail in 4-6 weeks.' Someone at DMV would review the photos to make sure they resemble the previous one, and that would be it. Problem is, that option isn't available for all... and "resemble"?... I've been mistaken for Nick Nolte... (I know you're gonna post that drunken picture of him)... a well known NASCAR driver... (I think it was Mark Martin)... and even signed an autograph for Bo Svenson in Louisville, Kentucky once... when a man and his son demanded it...

Why doesn't your nephew go to here, in Evergreen then? I think if redleg lived in Dothan AL, he would go here, in Dothan. And your brother, the pastor, in Gilbertown AL, why doesn't he go here, in Butler, or here, in Butler, or here, in Chatom? So much for claiming they have to drive hundreds of miles [probably uphill both ways]... Like I said in a previous post, there are other places... but DMV is a foot in the door for Republicans... why don't we just let the courts sort it out... Alabama is already reconsidering... so they may understand after all... and why have to drive hundreds of miles to take care of things DMV provides just because Republicans are afraid some Democrat leaning voter is going to register to vote there... And I see that "intrinsic value" is still working for you... I'm proud for you... you checked out at least 6 locations...

That's all the person at the office is going to check if you walk in. It's all they can do, given the crappy quality of drivers license photos. Of course, the system could be set up to use facial recognition technology, which would make it more secure than going in person. And yes, that option IS available to everyone. Whether you go into the local library, or use your 'Obamaphone.'

What does this have to do with Slick Hilly's criminal acts? Nothing... but ask Redleg... I didn't ask anyone in particular, but since you brought it up, you seem to be the one fixated on it, and the one who brought it up initially. I understand that you are just trying the liberal's tired tactic of changing the subject when your continued deflections don't work against actual facts. Why don't you start your own thread instead of hijacking this one?

I did talk about it after he did... because he was wrong... as usual... My comment... to which he responded... was with regard to purging voter lists just before an election... and the suit filed against it...

What does this have to do with Slick Hilly's criminal acts? Perhaps ID was required to use the restroom where the server was located.

Legal, illegal, as long as they vote Democrat, who cares? Right?

Great comeback when someone proves beyond a doubt that you were dead wrong... I'm not. The Pubs are scrubbing the rolls of illegal, non legal, or expired voters. You are complaining because that means Dems can't win, unless they import enough illegal Democrats to offset the scrubbing.

Legal, illegal, as long as they vote Democrat, who cares? Right? Great comeback when someone proves beyond a doubt that you were dead wrong... Except that you are the one that's wrong. Scrubbing the voter rolls is the responsibility of every state. Just because Dems can't win unless they have the dead, the felons, and the illegals voting for them is irrelevant. If there are legal voters being caught up in the scrub, it's their responsibility to prove they are legal, alive, and citizens.

The suit was filed because in addition to removing those illegals, non legals (whatever that is), and expired voters... they were also removing eligible voters from the rolls as well...

Like I said... eligible voters were turning up scrubbed and obviously didn't know it till they got to the polls and couldn't vote... I know, I know... there are most always provisional ballots... but why should an eligible voter have to do that because of someone else's mistake... he/she may be pressed for time... may even have to get back to work after voting and had to rush there and back... etc...

And then it turns out, according to the CIA, that Trey Gowdy has been found to have redacted Clinton's emails himself... and adding his own words to them...
Old saying is: "When you find yourself in a hole... stop digging"... the GOP just doesn't seem to know when to stop digging...

So, you rely on a mentally challenged Socialist for your information? One that fails to understand economics so well that he doesn't know the difference between a loan with collateral and one without?

The "information" came from the state of Alabama... the comments of Sanders were his opinion... I didn't comment either way...
