Tomlin should have been ejected, and Jacoby awarded a touchdown. In 40 years of watching football, I have never seen anything so callous and blatant from a coach. The REF's should be fined and suspended as well The Jets fired a coach for something similar but worse a few years ago, and the Jets were flagged for it last week although it wasn't as bad as last night.

I wouldn't call it a train wreck; injuries and errors on the side of the Steelers still resulted in a very harrowing two minutes at the end. I was quoting the game announcers last night, the term just fits IMO. I have to agree with them. What do you mean by train wreck Champ? Folks at work today were saying it was a great game, wasn't it a great game? Wan't it a close game coming done to the end? Isn't that what you want to keep it exciting? I see where you say you are just repeating what they said on TV but what do you think it means?

The REF's should be fined and suspended as well By rule, a touchdown may be awarded on such a play, but it is at the discretion of the official. What probably should have been called was a 15-yard penalty because it isn't certain whether Tomlin's actions prevented a definite touchdown. If Tomlin had tried to trip or even tackle Jones, then a touchdown most likely would have resulted. What does appear to be certain is that Tomlin is facing a rather hefty fine. The pundits are having a field day with this whole thing, so the league will probably feel that it has to take some sort of disciplinary action.

They can't even get it right on the nfl.com site. The headline says punt return and then they say kick off return. I am curious to see what the do with the ref. Strange that he would miss something that obvious and so close.

you could hear the dismay on TV among the masses, thought they would leave the seats to flash mob the field. I was certainly pacing the floor screaming at my TV

I gotta say though, I just lost all respect for Mike Tomlin on that one. He didn't even bother to hide his satisfaction on seeing the results of the play. He was walking the sidelines grinning like a raccoon eating fish-guts out of a wire brush when he saw they weren't going to flag him. jones might have been pretty diplomatic post-game, figuring what's done is done once the Ravens had the win, but you can see his real reaction immediately after the play. He hopped to his feet in fury and pointed at Tomlin, accusing him of pretty blatant interference.....justly.

Tomlin will certainly get fined, and the ref who didn't make the call will be demoted or downgraded. The smirk was beyond ridiculous, I hope Goodell wipes that off of his face with a heft fine and suspension.

The REF's should be fined and suspended as well A Jets coach did basically the same thing last week, but caught a UC penalty for it. That's what Tomlin should have caught: +15 from the end of the run. Tomlin will probably be fined because the league does not want coaches to start testing limits. And he should be.

To be fair, he was only smiling after the big screen showed what happened five or six time in a row and then the fans reacted. They then showed him on the big screen, so he smirked to irk the fans....

Looked to me like he started smiling when he knew he didn't draw a penalty, and was getting away with it.

You mean that they, the Ravens stadium staff, showed it on the screen five times in a row during a commercial break? Or when Tomlin smiled, after the showing of the play? If the later, the commentators on tv made specific mention of the timing of his smile. While I don't always believe what the talking heads say, I know for certain they, the stadium video group, would play it over & over, and were I him, I too would smile and play to the crowd... It is just a game afterall.....

Um, that is from a blog, see definition- get people to click on the link in any way for pay....... The RUMOR originated with the king of make stuff up to garner hits, Mike Florio. The question was likely asked to an NFL rep; "is there any chance at all that a draft pick or picks could be stripped" where by the only true answer could be, yes. This is how reporters get the "quotes" they want and frame them specifically to get people to listen, click, tune in to..... Been there, seen it. The original report from Adam Shefter is that a large, six figure fine is likely to be handed down early next week, no suspension. Does the league allow for draft picks to be taken in cases like this, in other words, in cheating? Yes, does what Tomlin did reach that level? No.

After the game, Jones was asked about it (while munching on a turkey leg). He laughed and said that he'd probably do the same thing in those circumstances. Jones should've run right smack into Tomlin when Tomlin's foot was on the field of play. The players are getting pretty well schooled as to what not to say to keep controversy at a minimum. After watching the Jacoby/turkey leg interview, and another where he was just up in front of a crowd of reporters, you could tell he was saying "I saw it, you saw it, the fans saw it, and Mike Tomlin sure as hell saw it. Anyone that says that wasn't deliberate is full of sh*&^t, and we both know it". Flacco was the only one to speak right to the issue, and he pulled no punches. Tomlin should have been called for interference, and the play ruled a TD, even if he might have been caught anyway. That kind of behavior cannot be allowed. Shades of that coach in Philly who stuck his foot out and TRIPPED an opposing player running along the sideline. That SOB should have been bounced from pro football so hard (and publicly) that he couldn't get a job coaching a Pop Warner team full of 8-year-olds./rant It was the Jets Strength and Conditioning coach against Miami. He was fired the next week
