The big game has arrived and as usual its a MUST game for either team. Ravens continue the ROLL and GOBBLE up the Steelers in Baltimore on Turkey night.

The Ravens are on a roll?
I'd like to say that whoever wins Thursday night takes the final AFC playoff spot, but that might be a bit premature. I would think, however, that the Ravens-Steelers winner would have a leg up simply because the NFL is a quarterback-based league. Of the six teams vying for the No. 6 seed, only three have quarterbacks who have won a playoff game--the Ravens, the Steelers and the Chargers.
The Ravens, however, still have a home date with Brady and the Pats, plus road games at Detroit at Cincinnati. A home win against the Steelers would be a nice springboard, but it would only be a start. Unless the Ravens shore up that road record, they'll be in the unfamiliar position of spectators once the playoffs begin.

A few years ago, I felt kinda down because I though I'd never see the Ravens in a Thanksgiving game. So sick of Dallas and Detroit every year. Sorry, Cowboyzgirl. Now we have two in three years. That is awesome.

I watched some steeler games and I noticed teams were trying to put a hat on troy head and shoulders. The one play a lineman got downfield and tried to crush him. I think you take him out of the play the ravens can get some big plays.

The Ravens will be wearing their black jerseys and black pants in Thursday's game against the Steelers. These are the jerseys they are allowed to wear twice a year. I like those. Did I read that they are 10-5 all-time in black jerseys?
For added good luck, I shall wear my BLACK Ravens hair scrunchie that night.
I think that would be one crazy wild home game to attend, especially given the rivalry between those two teams.

I will have a Steelers fan in my house on Thursday, so I hope the Ravens win! Go Ravens!

I think one key for the Ravens will be to get some sixes out of their red zone opportunities rather than settle for threes. Against the Jets, it didn't matter; New York's offense was so feeble that anything more than a three-point lead could have been considered a blowout. Roethlisberger can be very inventive, and the best way to neutralize that is to force him to play catch up.

if you pressure benny all night , you own him. I am not sure what that means Champ. I don't know anything about football but some folks at work were saying that Bennie was pretty good at staying alive in the pocket under heavy pressure. They said he was really good at extending the play whatever that means. Is that the same thing you are saying?

if you pressure benny all night , you own him. You could probably say the same for the other 31 starting quarterbacks in the NFL. But I'd say that Roethlisberger probably handles pressure as well as any quarterback in the league. Despite his size, he's very elusive and isn't going to be brought down by arm tackles. His ability to extend plays is one of his biggest assets.

He handles pressure better than Brady or Manning.

Ravens can't run, receivers can't beat press coverage. Steelers offensive line has found a rythem and Ben handles pressure than most quarterbacks in the league. Steelers sweep, likely in a 10 pt win...

Ben has enjoyed some recent success because the Steelers have reschemed. Their schemes now favor short passes so that Ben can get rid of them more quickly, which compensates for their offensive line, which is similar to the Ravens, and Ben is accurate enough that this has been working. We'll see if Suggs still owns Ben. Suggs has had some fairly lackluster performances recently.

I think what this game will come down to is how much is the home field worth? In the first matchup, it was worth three points to the Steelers. The teams are evenly matched enough (neither is all that good) for such a factor to tip the balance again. I'm taking the Ravens by the slimmest of margins on this one, although I'm not putting my money where my mouth is.

Other than the occasional Super Bowl block pool, I don't bet on football either.

I usually bet on anywhere between 5-10 games in an entire season. I usually win about 70% of the time, but not this year. This is the first season where I am in the red. I already decided not to bet on this Ravens team anymore for the rest of this season. I might not even make any more bets for the rest of this season.
I do have a feeling though, that this season, unlike most, the team with the best regular season record will win the Superbowl. I might bet on that, depending on the line, when the time comes.

That hasn't happened in some time. The 2003 Patriots (14-2) were the last team to do so.

I'm looking forward to Monday night's game. It's typically a dog, but this week's Saints-Seahawks matchup could have Super Bowl implications. Whoever wins has a leg up for home field advantage and both teams are practically unbeatable at home.
