Honestly, I don't know why the "George Bush lied about WMD in Iraq" meme still persists. It's clear that Bush honestly believed the very real intelligence that said Saddam had WMD. Why do I say that? Because CLINTON (both of them) believed it too. So did half the Democrats in Congress, and multiple foreign intelligence services. No doubt, in part, because everyone knew Saddam did, at one time, have chemical weapons - and used them - and couldn't imagine a scenario where he'd get rid of them and still obstruct the UN investigation. The intelligence turned out to be wrong. That's a very different thing than the president lying about it. The right wing excuses for getting America into a unnecessary war. You guys pull this crap every time. Somehow it's the democrats fault. Dude the guy at the speech was talking about mushroom clouds!!!! I, and many other Americans were on his game in a second. Bush was the PRESIDENT! He was the leader. He was aggressive about it. And he was horribly wrong and did the horribly wrong thing and now we got thousands dead. Well, let's see. Jamie Goerlick, under Clinton, made sure that the CIA and the FBI couldn't talk to each other, so the FBI, the group allegedly responsible for law enforcement in the US didn't know that there were Muslims taking flying lessons, but no landing lessons. Clinton had at least 3 chances to take Bin Laden, but was too busy with interns, and invading the Balkans to keep that story off the front page to bother. Then came 9/11. Since Clinton had emasculated our own intelligence service so badly, we had to rely on foreign intel services. They all agreed that Saddam either had, or was developing, WMD. So, who do you listen to? The guys that supposedly know what's going on, or Democrats?

And btw I am mad at the democrats who followed Bush and the neocons into such a disaster. I haven't defended them once. It's nice to have a clear conscious and not having to think up a million excuses.

Fewer than 3,799,638 people voted for Bush for Governor and then for President in 2000. Fewer than 4,526,916 people voted for Bush for Governor and then for President in 2004. Lol. Yeah right. So many excuses. Sorry he worked out so poorly. I guess you missed your own point when you posted The operative word in that post is "and" which limits the scope of "you guys." "You guys" (in your post) is limited to Texas residents, which most of us on this forum are not.

"My congresslizard is the bee's knees! It's everyone else's that's the problem!" I haven't had any need to contact Andy yet, so I don't know about getting responses to questions, etc.. I do have to say that if you wrote or e-mailed Roscoe, you had a clear and precise answer or an in-depth reason why he was going to vote a certain way within three days. Didn't like that whole business with his son, I am suspect of any and all "dynasties". However, Roscoe was up on what was happening and he kept the public informed.

Yes, I got clear responses from his office as well. Either he was keeping on top of things or he'd trained his staff well. Harris got off on the wrong foot with me when he whined about the fact that his Congressional healthcare benefits took three months to start, when almost everyone faces that where they work, and when he was working hard to oppose Obamacare. I don't like Obamacare, either, but I like hypocrites even less: if government shouldn't be providing healthcare for people in general (and I think it shouldn't) then it shouldn't be providing it for Congressmen, either. Harris whining about it made him seem immature.

One doubts if there is a picture of Obama, Clinton or Carter doing anything close to that. George W Bush was hardly one of my favorite presidents. I didn't like the wars he got us into, I didn't like his "compassionate conservatism," and I didn't like how he let congressional Republicans run up the nation's credit card. Even when he was lying about Iraq WMD - and he may have genuinely believed those lies, but I doubt it - he seemed like a guy you could have a beer with. Speaking as a former military guy who got lucky and never saw war, it seemed to be that his love and pride in the American fighting men and women was genuine. His pain in seeing the wounded vets, ordered by him to go to the places that got them wounded seemed genuine as well. I'm sure that pictures like that exist with other presidents in them. You've got to be one cold hearted bastard to send men and women to war and not empathize with their pain and suffering and I don't dislike any president that much to believe they don't have that empathy. Secret Service assigned to the White House do talk to friends. You'd be really amazed at how some have treated the staff assigned to protect them, so sadly I can believe empathy can be short or non-existent to a few.

Question: If a poster uses a fallacy argument, is it not permissible to point out the argument is a logical fallacy? Yes. But attack the argument, and leave any comments about the poster out of it. If your attack on the argument is sufficient others will infer the rest, won't they?
