Hoping they get the sweep tonight! The cork is out of the champagne bottle, airing out...won't be long before it's poured

Clutch two-out hit by JJ Hardy with the bases loaded in the seventh to put the O's ahead for good. (Why do I have a sinking feeling that we're looking at the starting shortstop for the Yankees in 2015?) Hunter and Britton were solid in relief, but the bullpen is showing signs of fraying in spots, which might be cause for a bit of concern.

Good win today after a pair of disappointing losses.
Boston eliminated. They now have nothing to play for except payback for a few years ago, when a joke Orioles franchise drove a stake into the heart of their post-season aspirations.

Yup, and despite losing 2 of 3 over the weekend, still a 9.5 game lead.

Nelson Cruz had himself a nice little game today. That's a career week for a lot of players.
Although it wasn't good to see Britton cough up a save chance (I guess he was due), it was certainly enjoyable to see Andrew Miller pitching lights-out in the 11th. It appears that he's beyond that nagging hamstring problem.

Magic number is now nine with the Orioles winning in Boston and the Yankees losing to Kansas City. I am a little concerned about Tillman, however. Despite winning his fifth straight start tonight, he only lasted five innings and didn't look particularly sharp. He's having troubles putting hitters away with two strikes the last couple of times out, which was one of the major obstacles in his becoming a legitimate major league pitcher earlier in his career.
Hopefully it's just the effects of a long season beginning to wear him down a bit, which happens to a lot of players. The Orioles need him to be fresh and sharp once the postseason commences.

another series in the W column. It would be awesome to sweep them at home tonight.

3/4 from the Yankees. late game heroics, like clockwork. I guess that's a good thing & a bad thing. Bullpen has been a little shaky lately. they will clinch this week!

I love, love, love, seeing the Yankees hearts ripped out like that! What a great series win, pretty much ended ANY chance the Skanks had at a WC berth.

I was out a the Yard for this one. A pretty good farewell to Jeter, and the park infested with Yankee fans who left cursing and snarling into their beer, after the pitching duel flashed into ninth innning fireworks.
Jeter is slumping badly, and got no hits...which I regret, but not enough to cost the O's a victory.

Don't miss out on tomorrow night's Walk-a-thon featuring Ubaldo Jiminez. Maybe the Orioles could throw in a 5K Fun Run just to keep things interesting.

It is time for him to call it a career. Hardy will probably be up there next year, if they follow their usual pattern of paying stupid money to free agents.

Frankly, we seem to be doing better by bringing up young prospects from the farm system than going for big name players. Nelson Cruz being the exception, or at least one of them.

I'll bet the network execs are fitting themselves for nooses at the thought of a Baltimore-Kansas City ALCS. Probably not what they were hoping for.
Is there some rule requiring Tiger fans to leave their adenoids at the turnstiles? I've been to louder funerals.
